No 5th wheel hitch available for 2014 Ram 2500

Just purchased a 2014 Ram 2500 and new fifth wheel but nothing to pull it with . Stuck in New England until a manufacturer comes up with one ugh! If anyone has any info on this I would appreciate any updates !

etrailer.com has listings for 2013. Is there something different about the frame on the 2014 that the 2013 kits won't work?

My son and I spent about 6 hours modifying a universal mounting kit to fit my 2011 Ram. I had a trip and did not have time to wait for a fitted kit to arrive from etrailers.

It is one of those deals where we made it work, but I would never recommend it to anyone as a project.

Yes, there was a change in 2014. We may have to drive to Indiana and have them use our truck as a model. We are full timers and planned to leave here after Christmas. I was told there is a big convention coming up next week and maybe there will be some good news! If only we could have kept our 2011 ram but is was only a 1500 .

that stinks. Whole new rig and can't get out of New England in December. You don't think of this kind of stuff during the excitement of buying new stuff

You got that right! That was the last thing we expected to deal with. Oh well, hopefully there will be some updates soon.

Whats up with the dealer. Did he not inform you of this problem in advance or during your purchase. Something doesn't compute. ?????

Is there a Goose Neck hitch for it yet?

which dealer? The truck salesman just wants to make a sale and most RV salespeople are clueless as to what is involved in camping. They wouldn't know how to tow or operate anything on a camper if their lives depended on it.

We didn't order the ram with the OEM hitch. Every manufacturer I have called said that if we had we would still have the same issue . We have a short bed so we want a pull rite glider. We may have to settle for something different .

The RV dealer or anyone else that had anything to do with the sale. It's hard to believe these hitch mfgrs. don't have hitches for a common vehicle... unbelievable.

you are right, you would think the hitch manufacturers would be ahead of the game since these trucks are bought for a purpose. As far as whose fault it is, the salesman who sold the truck isn't responsible to make sure that the aftermarket accessories you plan to add on to your truck are available. The salesman who sold the 5th wheel would sell it to someone who pulled up in a Smart Car and not care how you towed it off the lot. This is just a really unfortunate circumstance.

Well, we can't blame the Ram dealer. I worked directly with the owner not a sales person and he worked very hard with us trying to get what we wanted right. We ordered the truck sight unseen because Ram had no info on their site for 2014's at the time. We were very specific as to what we wanted in the truck and when we finally got it exceeded my expectations. The dealer wouldn't know very much about 5th wheel hitches.

Why?

The 2500 got a completely new frame for 2014 as it now has the radius arm front end (aka Ford design) that the 3500 got last year. Also has coil spring or air rear suspension so there are some major things that hitch makers probably need one of the new truck to be able to fit the hitch to the new frame design. Could be Ram did not give out the frame design soon enough.

Too funny! That is so true about the RV dealer. To add insult to injury the RV dealer drilled three holes in our bed then realized the hitch wasn't going to fit.

when I got my first camper a few years ago, the tech at the dealer put together my weight distributing hitch with a pair of vise grips and an adjustable wrench. I questioned both the salesman and the owner as to how they can justify a $90 per hour labor rate for that type of work. I have over $60k worth of tools to work on $400,000 tractors and our labor rate is less than that.

Great company and product. Spendy but worth it.

It might be worth calling them tomorrow morning.

Hope it all works out well. It sounds like something other than the hitch is missing here... IMHO
