On my 06 I did it when the oil monitor told me. Rotella T-6 5W40. Usually twice a year, once in fall and once in spring.

On my 15 I get 4 oil changes by GM then I will be going to the Rotella T-6. I'm getting close to my first one, 24% left @ 9000 KM
