ok got a wdh question

I'm sure this is a topic that gets beat in the ground but here goes. I have a 2000 dodge 3500 extended cab 3500 dual rear wheel long bed 2wd with the 5.9 cummins automatic transmission. I'm fairly new to camping and pulling campers but have pulled tractors and farm equipment all my life just not barn doors down the road my question is do I need a wdh hitch I own a 2011 Shasta revere rls with the big slide the tag says 6500ish lbs I travel with 2 kids a wife and golf cart in the bed of the truck my dad says I am crazy for putting one on my setup please all opinions welcome

Yes, check your hitch ratings your loaded tongue weight will be over the maximum load bearing (no wdh) numbers. I recommend getting a wdh with integrated sway control like Reese dual cam or equal-i-zer.

X2 on Safety and Reece Dual-Cam WDH. Don't skimp on this...get a good one and use it regardless what others tell you.

It will handle it fine per se, but you'll be much much happier with a WDH setup. It makes it pull so nice you'll be amazed.

wow I'm pretty shocked this is going against what I thought I am glad I asked I had a smaller hybrid and a Dakota and it was night and day difference using one never would I have thought I needed one with this truck shows what I know I knew folks here would have good advice

You've got more than enough truck to handle it as is, but WDH will make that pull so much nicer you won't believe it.

Simple test. Pull without the bars, then pull with the bars and sway hooked up. You'll probably be shocked, I was when I tried it.
