Mine's not exactly older, but it's got most beat on the miles. 250,000 miles on an '08 chevy 2500 hd duramax. I'll keep it till around 400,000 miles just like my last truck(about 2 more years). I don't really care about what year, just the miles. I try to get a good diesel around 150k and I'll drive it till the tires fall off!

We're towing our 2016 Roo 21SS with a 2005 Durango 4.7L. Many here have advised us that we are pushing the limits of our TV, but we don't have the finances to upgrade just yet. Meanwhile, we are packing as light as possible, sticking to the flat Midwest, and use a good brake controller and WDH. We've completed two trips so far and felt the vehicle handled what we asked of it just great. I was even pleasantly surprised that our gas mileage only dropped about 1.5 mpg !

I am still making improvements to my 07 GMC Sierra, SB/CC, Duramax/Allison.

As long as your TV is well maintained, reliable, and you still like it tow on. For me to replace mine would be cost prohibitive with all the other things I like to do.

Some projects in the near future; Airbags on the rear, EFI live tune, new tires.

Competed last summer; upgrade the Allison to a Stg V build and a Suncoast 1056 Torque converter.

I'd hardly call a 9 year old vehicle "old". If you can't get 10-15 years or 200,000 kms out of a new vehicle, you're doing something wrong or you got a lemon.

Oops, hit the Post to quickly. Why a dually? O'k for a TT but for a 5th wheel too? We have a 2011 Dodge, 4X4, diesel SA that pulls just great. Don't know the benefits but am eager to get another view!
Thanks!

TV

[QUOTE=inspectorgf;862157]I'm using an 06 ram 3500 mega cab with 150k miles on it that I bought new in 07 to pull my 2012 sierra 365saq loaded probably 14k pounds. I constantly dream of having a new one but can't afford it. My truck does everything I ask it to do and has been a very reliable truck. It has never left me stranded but I also maintain it very well. I plan on having it for many years to come and putting a lot more trouble free miles on it.[/QUOTE

I have same TV with 110000 miles. The 5.9 diesel is just getting broke in. We tow a 14000 loaded sandstorm 29.5 without any problem. The only issue we have had is a new jake brake pump at about 80000.

Makes it more stable for the bigger fifth wheels & keeps the truck under it's GVW My pin weight is 2800+ the loaded rear axle weight of the truck on the scales is over 5,200 lbs. Pulling it is not the issue its keeping the truck close / below its GVW, also fine on trailer towing capacity as well.....
