just my 2 cents. bought my first used diesel 05 chevy 2500 with only 50k back in 2009 LLY engine towed by first 5th wheel copper canyon. Engine fan ran all the time while towing. put engine tuner on got betting towing. put new driver side exhaust manifold on to improve exhaust flow. Fan still ran. Then injector problems, blown head gaskets both sides. Lucky all was under warranty.

Bought new cedar creek 2014 36ckts. traded my old diesel in and bought a new 2014 chevy 1 ton dully. not one problem. runs great and no issues, and no warranty problems, truck is fully loaded, and with only 5000 miles on it.

In my opinion only buy new you dont want to run into someone else problems on a used truck.

5K will pay for a lot of camping. Either will do the job, but from what you've described I'd have to go with the gas. Have fun

2011 is when the frame, suspension, and brakes improved. There was no changes in 2013.

The price on the 07 seems nuts to me. It's an 8 year old truck. The 15 price may be good, but have you priced a new one yet? Barring any very specific options on the used 15, you may be able to walk away with a new (6.0 gas) truck for the same money. Used isn't always cheaper.

As already pointed out with used you can be buying someone else's headaches. I had that on a 2007 (5.9) Ram 3500, truck was a nightmare, one thing after the other. Only had 64k when I sold it to a dealer who was beating my door down for it. I'll never buy another used HD truck. Too many ways to abuse them.

What do you have done to yours to get that good of mileage? My brother-in-law has a 2010 F-350 6.4L crew cab 8ft. bed pulling a 30ft. Keystone Cougar. Loaded his trailer is at about 8500 lbs. he has never seen 10mpg. He is usually getting around 8mpg. His truck is completely stock.

Another thought folks have not mentioned is that diesel fuel does not like to sit. It collects water and wreaks havoc on the fuel system when it sits. If you're not going to drive the truck regularly the gas rig is the way to go. Just be patient when going up grades and upgrade the insulation on the floor and firewall to quiet the engine :-)

I got 10.1 over 1600 miles which is up from the 9.3 I got last year with my 2010 6.4 with around 37,000 miles on it.

The lite and truck weighed in at just a touch under 17,000 pounds.

Confused about the upgrade the insulation on the floor and firewall to quiet the engine :-)
Is that for the gasser you are talking about cause they don't like grades and that motor is going to be screaming? Or Diesel's are noisy?
Just ask'n.
