Opinions welcome... weights

Ok... so I finally had time to go get my truck/TT weighed at the local CAT scale just up i95 in Richmond...
Here's the details: (mind you, heading out camping, so this is typical loading)
Weigh 1
Steer = 3460
Drive = 2640
Total = 6100

Weigh 2 (BlueOX engaged)
Steer = 3460
Drive = 3480
Trailer = 7400
Total = 14340

Weigh 3 (BlueOX disengaged)
Steer = 2620
Drive = 3580
Trailer = 7400
Total = 13600

Am I correct in saying that the BlueOX needs some tweaking... seeing all the tongue weight (840lbs) went to the rear, BUT, the truck is perfectly level with the camper when the BlueOX is engaged...
Those of you with the BLUEOX SwayPro... care to "weigh" in..
Thinking i may have to lower the head one notch.. maybe??
The reason for my asking is that i just feel like something is off on the setup.. can't describe it but sometimes i feel like the front end "porpoises" depending on the bump... but other than that, all is great...

So, again, just want opinions on either hitch setup, move weight from front to back of TT, etc, no weight police please as i'm well within my GCVWR of 17100lbs.

"No Weight Police" most likely means "not me," but I am curious as to why there is 740 pounds difference between weight 2 and weight 3.

The scales weight + 20 pound increments. I can see a little variation between weighs but not 740 pounds.

Also don't understand why there is no weight increase on your camper's wheels when the BlueOx is engaged. Properly configured, the tongue weight should come off the rear axle and be "distributed" between the front axle and the camper's axles.

No max weight (GVWR) on camper or truck noted so I will keep any weight police comments to myself. If I got these weights, I would be going back to the scales (perhaps a different one) to get them re-validated.

It looks like your weighing #3 is messed up...there's no way that you lose any combined weight one weighing to the next. Without the 3rd weighing, it's a guess about tongue weight and the amount you're transferring to the front axle and camper axles. It's good to see that the front axle weight is the same between 1 and 2.

Currently on the road.. but what I will do next week is hit the 'other' CAT scale up one more exit on i95 north of Richmond when we take off for Hershey on Thursday afternoon... we have two in the area and redo the weights. The woman inside was very rude to me and almost seemed like she didn't care what I was doing for my own good and could have possibly 'hit the button' when i was in the middle of unlatching the chain of the blueox..

I'm looking at this same camper and it has a dry weight of 7467(according to the sticker and manu web site), I'm curious how the scale read it as 7400 loaded. I've seen it before, could it be less then stated on the yellow sticker?

Scales are as accurate as any other and have a "tolerance" (margin of error). + 100 pounds is not out of the ordinary. The increments read in 20 pound jumps.

You must have the upgraded sway-pro! Mine doesn't make me any lighter!

I used a tape measure to dial mine it. (did a cat scale after). I set it to dip 1/2 inch in the back and 1 inch in the front after attaching the trailer. (I also made sure I was carrying the normal load in the TV first). I will have to look but I think the cat scale had my rear end heavier than yours(
proportionately speaking. You have a bunch more trailer than I do). Also, did you drive up to the scales for each reading? The total wieght isn't figured by adding all the numbers up, it is what you weigh as you are driving up on the scales.

Because the 7400 pounds shown above do not include the tongue weight of the camper. That is typically 10%-15%.

The advertised dry weight includes that.

I have to redo the weight without the BOx hooked in... i'll try to do it this Friday as we head out to VA Beach for the DMB concert Friday night and Sandbridge....
I have the first three consecutive weights, same day, same trip, (something got dorked up on my reweigh when i unhooked, i must have been cockeyed or something on the scales) just kept turning around amongst the 18wheelers in the lot...

understood, however, your missing my point, the dry is 7400 +/- empty, he's getting 7400 loaded, so that's where I'm a little perplexed with the weights.

From the scale numbers above, the 7,400 pounds of weight is *only* the weight being carried by the axles. It does not include the 800 pounds or so of to the weight giving him an actual camper weight of 8,200 pounds.

The 7,400 pounds from the PTM website include the hitch weight.

So, you would be comparing the scaled weight PLUS to the weight of approximate 8,200 pounds against the PTM advertised dry weight of 7,400.

At least that's my understanding.
