You got to be kidding. It couldn't have been the weight that put those stresses on the 5.0L.

Look at those tow mirrors! Good to Go!
I don't know why I say things like that. I'll go away now.

Nope. I watched him pull out and head to the interstate.

Yeah it's a 373TH12 I mis-identified it as a 343TH11

This is debated daily on the forum...….in my mind towing that trailer with a 1/2 T is entirely irresponsible and reckless with no consideration for the safety of themselves or others.
I don't know that I would tow that trailer with my 2500.

Not saying this is what's going on in that picture, but I'm sure people were freaking out when my son brought home a 1977 dual axle TT....can't remember the brand for the life of me, but is was 32' long. He pulled it from Springfield MO. To Nebraska with a little 2004 1500 Chevy. It looked like a Hot Wheel pulling a Tonka truck. Many would scream that he was grossly overweight for that vehicle, but what they wouldn't have know was the TT was completely gutted inside and he brought home a shell that he rebuilt, used for two years and sold. The entire trailer probably only weighed 2-3000 lbs maybe.

I think the guy in the pic is a member of the page. Their is a photo of the same rig in a thread about towing a 5th wheel with a 1/2 ton. The post says he removed 700lbs of weight from the camper and is under the payload for his max tow f150. Still doesn't look good to me.

People, for some reason, equate size with weight. I've seen toy haulers towed by "1/2 tons" that are so long they use the entire cycle of a traffic light to pass through the intersection ( ) and weigh less than the truck pulling them. I've also seen trailers the same length as the tow vehicle that are so full of gear they're 50% (or more) heavier than the TV.
I quit worrying about "the other guys tow" years ago. As long as they aren't around me while driving I let them worry about their rig. If they pass me I back off so my "exposure" is limited. If I'm passing them I do it as fast as possible so again I'm not near them for any length of time.
I worry about my rig. That's a big enough task for me.
FWIW, in the last 12 months I've piled on a lot of miles in 10 western states. In those miles I encountered several accidents. Not a single one involved an RV of any kind. Lots of cars, pickups, Semi's, but NO RV's and there were a lot of them on the road. FWIW, most of the accidents I encountered in my travels were "rear-enders". People driving with their heads up their --------.

OK ... but why? The person doing it has told us why he thinks it's OK -- all the numbers check out.
You might be correct. It might be irresponsible. But, do you care to elaborate, or, like 90% of other "can't do it" arguments, do you just expect that your statements are a prima facie argument?

I remember that thread...
The numbers only checked out because he made up some random numbers to calculate in his favor to justify the current truck and would change with every new post.
Which seems to be a common practice these days...
