Go to the truck forums and check on the different HD units. They all have issues, some worse than others. 3rd gen 4x4 Dodges have a littany of front end troubles that they started finally addressing in 08 1/2 with the change in steering linkage design and since then have changed the steering box design twice, the Pitman arm twice, lower control arms and more and yet they still have issues, steering boxes were on national back order for the 3rd gens for over 6 months oh and lets not forget the allowed 95 thou tolerance (if memory serves me) in the upper ball joints which makes for more wonderful driving experiences. Dodges are also very finaky with tire choice and need very stiff side wall tires. They also won't win any comfort awards as they ride like tanks unless they are loaded and then add in the poorly designed heater box that is well documented for the breaking blend doors. The only good thing about third gen Dodges is the Cummins engine IMO. It is a real shame as the front end design is the probably the best SFA design out there, Dodge just chose the lowest bidder and is paying the cost with poor product life and quality. The good part of this is it created a large aftermarket that makes good quality parts to make a Dodge drive like well a Ford for lack of any other reference, 5k turns them into a nice riding truck that drives straight without wandering all over the road. Now bear in mind they all have their crosses to bare, I am just letting you know you should be going to truck sites to talk about trucks once you figure out how much truck you need.
