You sure about those stats ?? Where did you get those figures ??
The 2008 Trailer Life towing guide does not mention 3.42 gears in a 5.3L 2wd Tahoe.....doesn't mean it ain't so, but just wondering.
You can find the Trailer Life towing guides here: Trailer Towing Guides | Trailer Life Magazine
If you are putting in an auxiliary transmission cooler, I presume 1 is not already in the Tahoe ?? That indicates that you might not have the heavy duty tow package.
Where did you get the figure for the maximum hitch weight ?? Was that posted on the hitch ?? What is the maximum tow capacity of the hitch ?? Many times, the hitch is rated for 10xs the maximum weight distributing tongue weight, and if that is the case the hitch may only be rated for 6000 lbs.
The 116" wheelbase of the Tahoe is a bit short for that trailer, but not too bad. A WDH with integrated sway control (Equal-i-zer, Reese Straight Line Dual Cam, Blue Ox Sway Pro, etc.) will be a must.
It is great that you are doing the homework before buying the trailer, but a little more research might be needed.
