Never lubricate a friction sway control bar. It would defeat its purpose.

Popping noise when turning

I had that problem when I had a TT, it turned out to be the anti sway bar was too tight. Just a thought.

Read your pamphlet and find out if there is something recommended that you aren't doing.

I think Johnshoe may have the answer. I have that same popping noise but only when my anti sway bar is tight. Recently when crossing Wyoming, it was really windy so I cranked the anti sway bar pretty tight. Normally when I come into a town or will be looking around, I loosen the anti sway bar until it is loose. Forgot this time and while jockeying out of a grocery store parking lot got that crunching pop from the hitch. So yes, that is fairly normal but you can mitigate the problem by loosening the bar as soon as possible and running as loose as comfortable. By the way, I use Reese brand lubricant on the ball. Welcome to the club!!

Hearing those creaks and pops on tighter turns lets me know the Equal-i-zer is back there and working.

I use this grease from nappa. See picture. Everyone has what works for them, I wipe it off when not in use. I hate dirty hands, so it's a few minutes I don't mind.
Most important do not grease L brackets. At most use plastic jackets sold by equalizer. I use the jackets more often than not. It I'm heavy highway I choose not to use them, too gain the mild added sway control, some is lost with there use. In theory they allow less friction so therefore less sway control. Do I notice a difference with and without. Not that I can tell.... so that's why I choose to use when situation is such that I may want all I can have. Click image for larger version

WDH noise

I have a Equal-i-zer WDH. I keep it lubed up and my dealer also recommended using their "Sway Bracket Jacket" P/N 95-01-5150. Its made from a high density nylon and just slips on the "L" brackets. It was designed to quiet your Equal-i-zer hitch and reduce wear on the L-brackets.
