Had a customer that let an employee drive his pull'n a flatbed with a cat on it....heat, shifting into 5th to soon, and lugging it did it in....twice..

Sorry. In the rv hailing world you don't see too many fords. They just don't last.

Is that really true? I steered away from Ford 1/2 tons (EcoBoost) because I've talked to people who own them and say they are great trucks until you hook something up to tow. Then the mileage and performance plummets.
I picked up a Ram Ecodiesel last week and couldn't be happier with it's performance - especially the 19mpg I get when towing our TT:

I'm NOT getting into the old what's best debate. They're ALL good till they break! Over 80% of trucks hauling rv's are Dodge. And the reason for that boils down to one thing......CUMMINGS!

How do you like the Duramax, I looked at them but do not see many out there mostly Ford and Dodge's
I am also trying to see the diff between all 3 diesel's? I hear Cummins is most reliable, Ford is middle of the row, and Duramax with Allison tranny is about same. I also hear the PowerStroke is Ford's own based off of the old International, Cummings is its own, and the Duramax is a Izuzu made engine? Anyone know the facts on these?

Actually, there are a lot more Duramax's hauling than Fords. They are a nice riding truck but have injector issues and it's an expensive fix. PLEASE BARE IN MIND, I am speaking from a haulers prospective. We put on way more miles than the average consumer. For normal use I wouldn't be afraid to buy any of them. Just make sure to buy the right size truck for the job.

You should have found a different tranny shop after the second or third time the trans went for a crap.

I make my living with these trucks and the manual has left me stranded MANY times. As far as the truck itself goes, she's a beauty and will last forever.
My truck's :
07 Ram 3500 , 6.7, auto, 1.8 million miles.
04 Ram 3500, 5.9, manual, 1.2 million miles.

I will never go as many miles as yourself . I have 20k with big power added pulling this hauler with my previous G56 manual Stock trans other than DD clutch.. I never had any issues. Zero actually.

My dream truck would be a Cummings engine, Alison transmission and a Ford body.

Where is the "G" coming from in those dreams. It's CUMMINS. And Allison has 2 L's.
Hang on, it gets bumpy on that bandwagon.

Bmallak,
If you don't mind me asking, how did your 6.0L do pulling that large of a trailer? I have been looking at some newer GM trucks, and found a good deal on a 2015 3500HD with the 6.0L, but was wondering how the engine performed pulling heavier loads.
Thanks.

Different shops almost every time. It's not a rebuild issue, it's a heat issue.

A few years back I bought my dream truck. This truck had every option that you can imagine. It was even equipped with "on spot". These are automatically deployed tire chains in case it gets icy. Fancier than any semi I've ever seen. Once I got it out of my system I sold it because it was overkill for what I do and fuel mileage wasn't good. But I do miss it. Google search "sportchassis". Mine was black and beautiful. I miss it!
