My RR is a 2010 and it has the same V8 (and 6speed transmission?) as the Jaguar of the same era. it's 510HP and about 500lbs torque. I believe that was a Ford platform at the time. Tata took over in 2015 I think, which is the last year of my generation of RRS. I read about them on forums and it seems like the new ones are just as nice (nicer!) and have plenty of offroad and towing power, true to their original design.

RE: Air suspension, it works great!! The key was getting the height of the ball elevated through an adjustable B&W hitch. The RR receiver is really low compared to most trucks. Once lined up there, the Air does amazing work. I get no bouncing and no side-to-side shimmy unless there's wind or something I did. No WD hitch required.

enjoy working on those Disco models. I have some friends here that picked up some great mid-90's Discos and do some amazing off-roading in Alaska. check out the Far North Rovers page on FB to see some of their pix/adventures.
cheers,
Kirk

Here's my latest towing pic:

Looks good doesn't it? I can't complain though, it's only been in for service for 10 months now........

Don't really care for the advice about not mentioning lawyers/lawsuits anymore either. It's about that time. Spent 100 grand on a camper and truck to pull it and I'll be in a ****ing tent this weekend. AGAIN.

Found your "HELP!!! How do I get my camper replaced?" thread... man, that is horrible. Best of luck and hope you can get some resolution soon. We've been having some roof issues but we can at least use it (albeit with a tarp).

Ready to roll

All set to go a couple weeks ago from our driveway.
Our 2 10' kayaks are angled in the truck bed with the new gray tote resting between.
I had the WDH set with 3 links hanging (in the photo) and for the return trip tightened to 4 links which appears to be the sweet spot.

Is the new VDub a TDi? I've had 3 Defenders in the past (95, 2000, & 2005) and they are not a camper tow vehicle! LOL Great for open car or any offroading though.

No, wish it was but the tdi they had was going to be 10k more due to options and lower discount. Could not justify it. Do you still have the defender? If not bet you wish you had kept one !

Wow.. some perspective, a few years before your rr they were struggling to get 200 horse out of that old 225 model then boom! Over 500 with the help from jag. So is that a super charged diesel?

Not true. My 16 year old F250 still runs and drives great. Actually I have 3 other Fords that are well worth more than that Toyota and are 50, 51, 53 years old. If you do the maintenance and take care of them. They will last a very long time.
