This is my truck and trailer hooked up 4 days ago when we took delivery. The drive home was great and I feel that the truck and trailer are a good match.

Full disclosure this is the largest thing I have towed and my first travel trailer, so I have limited comparable experience. What I can tell you is the R/T has plenty of power and you will be fine there, the factor you have to consider most is the shorter wheelbase of a Durango relative to say a full size truck and factor that against what you plan on towing. The JGC is an even shorter wheelbase so I would not recommend it over a Durango if those are your considerations and I think you could get Tahoes both shorter and longer than a Durango. The Durango can pull north of 7k but that could equal a long trailer and might magnify the 'challenge' of a short wheel base.

Because I knew that going in I spent the money on a 10k equalizer WDH setup and Tekonsha P3 brake controller. Highly recommend both!!! My trailer is a 26' and is actually 30' ball to bumper. Dry is 4500 and loaded I get in about 6k in the trailer and around 650 in the truck.

I will admit when pulling it home I was a little unhappy with the experience. However, I have since dialed in the WDH with a loaded trailer and couldn't be happier. It took several reads of the manuals and some trial and error but I am very happy now with my setup. I load to between 700 - 750 lbs tongue (which is right at the max tongue capacity or slightly higher of the Durango) before the WDH. Once hooked everything is nice and even across the truck axles, under their limits and pulls/handles great.

I just took it to TN through the great smokies - 1,300 miles round trip through some crazy mountain roads.. cruise control @ 65 the whole way, 10 mpg average and aside from the 80 MPH semis (which pull everyone's rig) both the Durango and I had an easy time.

I agree, I'm having same issues right now and should of just went with F250 last year. I love my F 150 but just so limited in payload.

I've told the fam, no trips to the mountains & not to get too crazy bringing everything they own. I did a little expressway driving today in hilly terrain doing about 60 mph, averaged 9.7 mpg.

I'm hoping the F250 might be in next years picture...

1st long trip with the 250. It did great. Gas mileage was the same as with the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500? I just figured it would be better for some reason. So much better towing though, very relaxed trip. Probably too relaxed .
2 pics same spot..rig was on a downhill slope. Trailer is level but in one pic it looks nose down.

Our new Roo 183 loaded up for this past weeks trip. A little different towing than the old pup but well within the limits of the truck.

Looks like you have a lot of squat in that rear... Might need a bigger truck, or just airbags a d you'll be good... Wink J/K!

Nice truck.

It's pretty intimidating when you get in a flat tow situation - especially going to the great Smoky Mountains.
i'm really liking the blue Ox system, feel very confident rolling down the road. My first mistake was not setting the jeep in the right position and adding miles to my odometer that didn't need to be there - over 3000- The trick is to set the key in the first position and not activate the electronics in the Jeep- There are sensors in the wheels that clock the miles on the odometer, if you click twice forward - that will activate the electronics in the Jeep and activate that unwanted mileage sensor.

Finally got it home!

Love my Wolf Pup, although I'm not sure about how I feel about how level it is with my current hitch.

Being a single axle I wouldn't think level towing is near as important as a tandem. All the load is on the same wheels regardless.

i notice you don't have a WDH i know it is a small camper, but it would make your towing experience much more pleasurable, and help with sway, we have a small TT as well and i love my WDH

Thank you for the suggestion, I would like to try a WDH and see if I notice much of a difference.

I used to use a WDH on my Pop-up. It'll make a huge difference.

Also, I've always been fanatical about getting the trailer level due to someone telling me that you'll getting longer life out of the fridge and the back end of the vehicle if it's as close to level as possible.
