7.5 lbs/gal diesel x 90 gal = 675 lbs off your payload. Plus the tools. I'm assuming you had margin for that.

That's funny. It's a dually and not even touching the helpers. I don't play the weight game.

Rockfordroo, here's a slip from the scales fully loaded with fuel and all enroute to Florida. I think I'm good.

So... You don't play that "weight game" .. That payload is at least 1billion lbs!

LOL, sorry long, quiet night...

I suspected you'd be OK, but I had no clue what your numbers were, and didn't really want to figure it out. I do know that some Fivers can be quite heavy.

I really made the comment for the benefit others who might do something similar without THINKING about their payload. (After reading these posts for the last 3 years, I know there are a lot of those kind of folks out there. Some guy will think that since you did it, he can do it on his Dodge 1500. "Oh, a 1/2 ton can pull that!")

Don't be sorry. I can handle humor. Quiet here too.

Wow I am getting a 2016 F350 SB Crew and it only holds 26 gallons, I need the 8 foot bed to get the 37 tank but bed is too long. I may have to look into those six tanks as 26 is just too small, my Crew, SB F140 has a 36?

You and I have different needs. I could NEVER have:
1 short bed
2 single rear wheel
3 a small fuel tank

Wish you the best. Maybe if you need more fuel look into a Titan replacement tank so you don't use up the bed space.

I have the F350 short bed. Can't get long bed or dually in garage. I added the Titan and LOVE that. We seldom drive more than 425 miles and never more than 500 in a day. So if I fill up before we hook up and leave I am good for the day. We stop when we want to.

I will admit I was one of those guys that would have put the toolbox/fuel tank in the bed without thinking. I will scale my setup once we pick up the new Columbus but I am guessing we will be just over 11k on the truck and about 22k total ready for travel. Since the truck is rated for 11,500 and 23,500 combined we will be good but no room for another 50 gallon fuel tank in the bed.

I have learned a LOT from reading these boards and I hope others will do the same for the safety of everyone on the road.

05CrewDually great how you have only had 2 trucks since 1987. I plan on running this one for 14 years (that's when I can retire). Then I'll look at a dually with the extra tanks and trips to Alaska.

I've had and have more than 2 trucks but the Fords are the ones I get the most use out of. Actually I have a 2011 GM and a Dodge still but they're not worth talking about around here. I sure do miss my 87 though.
