Love seeing older trucks still in use. Up until a year ago I towed with my 87 Ford crecab dually with a turbo charged 6.9 diesel. I sure do miss it.

Isn't that A LOT of trailer for that truck? I know it works, but I Googled it and it's a BIG trailer!

heneryk, it is a auto ( 727 ) 3 speed one ton. 05 crew dually, you are already one step ahead of us, our next truck should be a F-350 dually, between late 1999 to 2003 with the 7.3 in it

boy is it ever BigBaron 13,500 pounds, and long 38 feet, I really had no idea just how big it was till I got to Sioux Falls, SD to pick it up, and brought it home to Seattle, WA. I come from the Motorhome world, a 32 foot winny and towing a car behind it, I can drive that thing like a sports car, this fifth wheel is a totally different monster, my first backing experience was like watching a 3 ring circus, I had to drop the trailer 3 times, the trailer was in good shape as far as lining up with my spot in the storage lot, but the truck was way out of shape, so by dropping the trailer and lining the truck back up with the trailer I was finally able to get up parked, and BTW on the way to SD I stopped counting at 25 trucks with single rear wheels pulling 40 foot toy haulers, I did see more dually trucks pulling 20 foot tag along trailer, and thought wasn't that a bit of over kill with the dually

How well does your truck pull the 5th wheel? Is your transmission modified?

Go with the later if you can find one in good shape. I like the 05-07 style so much that if the 6.0 ever grenades it will get a Cummins dropped in it. Yeah, I said it! I'm not brand specific, creature comforts and getting the job done is what is important.

here's some towing stat's; the motor is a 5.9 cummins all mechanical, no puters, completely stock, new radiator, hoses, heater core, belt, rear trans seal, U-joints, all fluids were changed before this trip to SD, the motor is rated at 180HP new, IMHO its a bit small, some of the high temps I saw coming over the passes on my glowshift towmaster gauges, water was up to 225, trans 190, EGT 810, really I wish there was a cumming motor around the 7 or 8 liter range, my dad always said get the biggest motor you can, you cant make a small motor bigger without losing reliability
