This would have meant a new mirror when that duelly Dodge clipped me one day.
I have 2015 Ford F350 with power retract and extend mirrors plus power folding mirrors that can be manually folded forward and backwards if struck. Matter a fact it takes less force than my Chevy 2500 that were completely manual mirrors. Love my power folding mirrors and use it daily when I put the truck in the garage.

I special ordered numerous Chevy tucks. The only one that came with standard tow mirrors was the dulley which I normally ordered. This time around I ordered a 2500 LT gas and had to pay $300 for the mirrors. Now the kicker is mine is an early version truck and the mirrors do not have the back side (to front) Light/turn signal. So this may also be part of the issues when trying to order the tow mirrors. Later RJD

Update to mirror issues

So as a final update to my mirror issue...
Chevy installed the part numbers for the OEM tow mirrors onto my truck last week. They were: 23241465(driver side) And 23241469(passenger side mirror).

They plugged directly in and have the power folding option. The two things that DO NOT function on them is the amber LED marker lights that are on the outside of the mirror. (turn signals work fine) and the two LED spot lights that are on each mirror. Theses spot lights were designed to illuminate behind the truck towards the trailer area for better visibility. These were not wired to work from the factory so they will not work.

Oddly the amber lights light up when I unlock my truck. My factory small mirrors had a small LED to illuminate the ground at the doorway. My guess they used the same wiring for this feature to run the marker lights. It was just plumbed differently once it was plugged in to the truck's harness.

No more check engine lights and I guess I now no longer need to manually fold in my mirrors. They do not extend into tow mode with power this still requires a tug to get them extended.

There are places on the web I have found that show how to re-wire the mirrors to get the marker light function and the cargo light functions tapping into the parking lights and rear bed cargo light but I think I will let this be for a bit. Overall I am much happier. Made the first trip to Pittsburgh and the truck and mirrors worked flawlessly.

Doc73,

You are correct in that they are not power extend. Only power fold.

You will have to tap into other wires to make the LED reverse lights and amber running lights work correctly.

Several sites on the web discuss this in depth. It's not hard to do.

Did you have slip on mirrors before you added OEM tow mirrors? Was there a noticeable difference in the 2?

Thanks. I am thinking of adding them to my '15 Duramax Denali.

I did not expect them to power extend, just wanted to make people aware of what they DO NOT do. I agree it is not hard to rewire but I will wait until I clear the warranty before messing with tow much in the electrical dept.

I did not even try the slip on mirrors. We tow enough that I wanted a permanent solution. I have used the suction cup style mirrors and slip on with past vehicles and I was just never fully impressed by them. If I towed once in a while they would be fine I am sure but not for us. I only towed a short distance with the stock small mirrors and was not able to even see around the trailer at all. I can now see the rear bumper of the trailer in the driver side and almost to the bumper on the passenger side (awning gets in the way).

Cool. I have the CIPA slip on'd now and they aren't bad. Not great though.

I tow a 38' toy hauler and need to get these OEM mirrors. Probably will this winter and require them.

Did you have any issues with the outside thermometer? Some have and it gives a red X on the temp display.

I do not know where the radio sensor is but it worked even after the OEM mirrors were taken off and got the CEL. It never malfunctioned and still works just fine. The engine temp sensor and the car's radio / interior sensor must be different sensors. I have the 8" mylink GPS radio system installed in my truck.

EDIT: Exterior sensor not interior as said above.
