In reply to Rupkin2......I have to be very diligent and and paying 100% attention when making turns. So far......no pedestrians or standards clipped.

A lot of good information here......I've learned so much....my brain hurts. I believe I will go with an F250 V8 non-diesel and make any further adjustments from there.

Thanks everyone!

Honestly, with a big sail like that, a dually would be the ticket.

I won't rule out a F350, it just gives more capacity. I don't want to deal with Dual Rear Wheel (DRW) truck so I limit my selections to one that fits within the specs of my F350 single rear wheel. Good Luck

PS My F350 has a 143.5" wheel base and F150 Super Crew Cab has 145" wheel base.

I remember it all giving me a headache too. I am commenting again because I do have the F250 6.2l gasser. If you go the gas route, you will find the most common new 6.2l's are equipped with 3.73 gears. This setup works fine for me because of my very short daily commute and the weight of my trailer. With your size trailer I hope you consider finding one with 4.30's.

IMO the MINIMUM TV for this size TT is the F150 EB w/HD upgrade (payload of 2500+) or entry-level 3/4 ton w/similar payload & towing capacity... Since F150 EB w/HD upgrade are hard to find & go for a premium, IMO an entry-level 3/4 ton offers more bank/buck.

We found a 2 year-old Ram 2500 CC ST w/5.7 Hemi & 3,000 payload for $14,000. With affordable Equalizer 4, it towed our 8,000 lb. (loaded) TT w/(loaded) TW of 1,200 throughout the Smoky Mts. without issue. With family of 5, dog, fiberglass cap & some gear in the back our payload averages 2,500 & our GCVW is just under 15,000.

However, for a 10+K lb. TT or 5er I would consider the Ram 3500 w/6.4 Hemi as an economical choice or diesel 1 ton if your budget allows. I like the idea of having an engine brake w/5+ tons behind me...

I will never pull another long trailer (ours is ~35', also with F-150 EB) very far without a Hensley or ProPride hitch. I am considering adding air bags to help level the rig up. No real urgency - my rig runs and pulls great as is.

nix my last message....it appears that the Hensley & ProPride hitch uses geometry to configure a trapezoidal setup instead of additional friction style sway control. Also read that a friction style sway control not only helps to eliminate sway using friction but can actually hold the TT in an angle position longer because of the sliding friction units......just buy a big truck and be done with it.......said me to myself......

Just solved some of my towing issues. Purchased a 2003 Ford F-350 Super Duty Lariat Power Stroke Diesel 6.0L. Keeping my F-150 and will use the F-350 primarily for pulling my 36' TT.

Can not go wrong with a Red Truck or Ford Powerstroke either! Nice solution to your problems.
