It is really trial and error! With you having a long bed, you will not have cab clearance issues at all. However, you may have bed clearance issues between the top of the bed and the bottom of the 5er. If it were me, as deep as the Chevy's beds are, I would put it all the way up just to get it home from the dealer. You generally should have 6" clearance between bed and 5er from the top of the rails. I would do it that way and see how see pulls, looks(as far as towing level) and feels while pulling her home. Then if you need or want to change it later you can, but you won't be too close for comfort on your way home.
