We ordered our "2500HD 4x4 in 2013" with "3.73 gears" and it has 3.73 gears! Youroo!!

There was a time when all you could get was the 4.10 gears with the 6.0 in a 2500 or 3500. I think after switching to the 6 speed 3.73 was optional.
We have looked at one truck with 3.73 gears and i think they will look at another i found with 4.10 gears on Monday.
I think the 4.10 gears would be optimal for their situation.

you can see by the posts 4.10 is the common suppose you can order different then what one would want when towing . i can see the 3.73 with the 6 speed .before when all you could get was the 4 speed 4.10 gears was the norm and is still the best for towing

I have a 2015 2500HD. I load a Honda Goldwing motorcycle in the bed of it and pull a Catalina 333RETS which is ~8k lbs dry. I have had no problems towing through the West Virginia and North Carolina. Mileage was ~8 MPG at 62 MPH. The truck is quiet and easy to drive. I do put it in manual mode to allow me to set the maximum gear it will go into. (For engine braking going downhill and to prevent it from hunting when on the level.)
