Ram 2500

Thinking about getting a 2014 Ram 2500 with a Cummings. Anyone have any mileage info. For some reason they feel people that drive Diesels don't care about mileage.
Thanks
Mike

I get about 15 around town, about 20 on the hiway, and about 14 towing. I don't know where you are but my dealer was good through the sale, but their service department needs an overhaul... big time!

Mine is a 2012.
Been 15-16 around town and 11-12 what little towing I've done with the 7500lb V-Lite.
19-20 on the hwy.

My '11 gets 10 MPG towing, maybe 14 or 15 around town. I drive it trailer-less so seldom that it's hard to determine my non-trailering MPG. Plus I have 4:11 gears, which were never offered from the factory with the stick. One road trip back from TN to PA, no trailer, it almost broke 16

And if you're gonna buy one, ya gotta spell it right. There's no "g" in Cummins. A lot of people do it, and it's a peeve of mine...

Mine has plenty of power... and it's surprising sometimes. My trailer isn't that big, around 7200 loaded, but the truck doesn't seem to know it's there. My next trailer looks like it will have a GVW of about 11000, and I'm not worried about it...

Ours runs about 16 in town and 21 or 22 hiway. 14 or 15 with 2604 loaded. Old ram 1500 was about 9 or 10 average. Best of all the uphill side of the Smokies went from 40mph to the actual speed limit. Just find a good local diesel shop cause the dealers shop is worthless.

It's actually an exhaust brake not a jake. The jake controls the engine exhaust valves.

Thought a exhaust brake worked like a Jake brake. Any way being new to the Ram Cummins (;o) Taran) engine it say's it develops 350 HP @ 2800 RPM doesn't seem like a lot. What am i missing?
Thanks again guy's

TORQUE is 850 ft-lbs! Torque is what pulls you up the hill without downshifting. Some tractor trailers have the same horsepower, but have 1500-2000 ft-lbs of torque.

I searched all over and talked to multiple dealers before buying my Ram 2500. Best dealer (by far) I found was Browning in Norco. Talk to Mary Jane or Danny. I don't know what price you're looking at for a '14 but you can probably pick up a new one for about the same or close. Thats what I found when I was looking.

I feel like I've made a difference today.

Yeah, I believe what comes factory on the 6.7 is an exhaust brake, not a true "jake" (whatever that is.)

Ecodiesel is the smaller diesel found in the 1500 Ram. Less displacement, less torque, but much better mileage, and pretty decent towing (9k pounds+). So a good truck for a small to medium sized camper (the trailer, not you.)

My 2010 Ram 2500 mega-cab 4X4 gets 15-16 hwy empty and 10-11 pulling our Silverback 29RE that we just traded for the Wildcat. The 2014 should get better fuel millage but you have to add DEF for regenn.

My 2009 Cummins has 350 HP, 650 lb. ft. of torque. Sometime since then they increased that to 370/800 with the standard 68RFE automatic transmission, still 350/660 with manual, and 385/865 with high output engine option.
