Ram 2500 Diesel Fill Up Issues

Sometimes when I fill up it seems that the tank is full but then when I get down the road the fuel gauge show it is not full. The fuel comes all the way up into the neck and you can not put any more fuel in. I never can check my fuel mileage cause one time it fills up and next it doesn't. What is the secret to fill ups?

Diesel fuel foams a lot. The only way to gwt it full is once it auto shuts off let it settle for 30 seconds, then manually and slowly continue filling.

I had my filler neck replaced on my 3500, a few weeks after buying it.
Hard/slow to fill.

Not sure how old/miles on your truck, had a similar problem with mine, about 102000 miles on it, and I got to noticing that sometimes when I fuel up it wouldn't hold but 7 or 8 gallons even after slowly fueling it. It ended up being the float in the fuel tank had rusted to pieces.

As a member here as well as the RAM forum, I'd suggest if you don't find what your looking for here, give the Ram forum a shot. Lots of info there on these trucks,

My 2015 is hard to get started filling up...I have to get the nozzle just right so it won't keep shutting off. I have not noticed that it hasn't filled up all the way yet though.

2500 fill up

You didn't mention if you are at a regular gas station or truck stop. If it's at a truck stop in the truck area, as you probably noticed the nozzles are much larger and they pump faster causing a lot of foam. Even the first notch for auto filling are usually to fast also, I found that using a juice bottle cap (like Gatorade) on end, under the trigger of the pump handle works great. The cap keeps the fuel flowing and not shutting off or over flowing, of course you shouldn't leave it unattended.

I filled up today and I inserted the nozzle as far as I could get it. I held the nozzle and fed the fuel in slowly. It filled all the way up. Maybe I wasn't getting the nozzle passed the second check valve. I have been filling up at service station quick marts. My ford that I had previous to this Ram filled better with the nozzle not stuck in as far.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Maybe dodge has a "harpoon" mod like the ford psd.
