Welcome to the Forum. I'm going to assume you are new to forums in general, because most forums are very similar to this one.
The OP (original poster) posted a question, asking for peoples input, generally people respond with their knowledge on the subject, so of course you might end up with some differing of experiences and you might end up with some common experiences but this is the nature of the forum world.

If only one person responded that 180 amps was enough and only one person responded that it wasn't, where would that leave the OP? still wondering what to do. After reading through everyone's responses I think they have a better understanding to make their choice.

And since you shared your knowledge on the subject I'm sure the OP will make the right decision for his or hers application.

Thanks for your reply. Your assumption is wrong. I am new to this forum but have frequented forums since they were a thing. This thread, however, is particularly guilty of redundancy. As I said, having read through it I think that people are only reading the original post and then posting. This is a good reminder to follow the conversation of the entire thread and then add to the conversation. Not a big deal but I think my observation is valid.

So you are assuming the OP knows how to look up previous posts pertaining to which alternator to get? People who were not involved in the previous posts may have learned something from this one.

I think you mean threads. Perhaps I'm not being clear. By "previous posts" I mean previous posts in this thread. I'm suggesting that people should read the entire thread before posting.

I've always ordered my trucks with the 220 amp alt. I also always order mine with optional trailer/5th wheel wiring harness. and btw mine does keep the trailer batteries well charged when traveling. Later RJD

You are correct i was referring to "threads". Now i understand.Previous post' to "this" thread. As far a reading the entire thread prior to posting a reply probably doesn't happen a lot but not a big deal.
