Ram 3500 Seat Belt WArning

I have a 2018 Ram 3500, when truck is moving a get a Driver Side Seatbelt Warning if unbuckled which is normal. Does anyone get this with the passenger side. My previous 1500 did but the 3500 doesn't.

The warning should only activate if someone is sitting in the seat and buckle in NOT fastened.

Nope, Ram doesn't seem to care about passengers on the HDs. You can also disable the audible warning if you prefer.

I'm going to have to test mine now, seems mine does alarm if the passenger seat when occupied is unbuckled.

I tested this yesterday with my teenage daughter. No alarm at all with her in the passenger seat and not buckled up.

I'll PM you, handy for parking camper sometimes if you're getting in and out of the truck trying to get into a tight spot by yourself.

Did you drive around ? Mine won't go off if we're just sitting in park. Have to be above a certain MPH.

Yep. Meant to say that. Started driving and mine chimes at 7mph. I got up to 16-17 mph once I got outside of the campground gate but before hitting the public road. It didnít chime.

I didnít test that over that speed as she had to buckle up due to the dad alarm.

That does seem odd. Tonight we were in the wifes Honda van and for a test, I braced myself off the seat without buckling and the warning didn't go off. When I sat down, the warning went off about 15 seconds later.

I know my 1500 goes off not sure about 3500. In regards to post 13 most passenger seats have a switch/ weight sensor that lets the computer know someone is in seat. A lot like the safety switch under riding lawnmower seat. If you standup cuts off mower. Since 3500 might have more of a commercial market maybe switch not installed because people might have gear instead.

If the gvw is over 10k different safety standards apply. If it's a drw with 14k gvw it is considered a commercial vehicle. Technically you need a dot medical card to operate it. That being said if you are pulling a tt or 5er there is usually no hassle..
At least everywhere I've been.

I just checked mine and the passenger side does not chime or show the seat belt warning on the dash. My max GVW is 10K I think someone said that was the cutoff weight for the alarm from the lighter P/u and mine.

I called the dealer and they said no alarm. Mine is 3500 diesel and I think the GVW is 11700. Wife was worried that the air bag wouldn't go off if some thing
happened. We just made it down to Huntington beach South Carolina from Wisconsin pulling a Durango Gold 356RLT (sorry switched from a Flagstaff FKS25 with a 1500 eco diesel

Interesting side note, Ford owners manual tells you how to turn off the seatbelt chime.

I always turn mine off because I do a fair amount of offroad/pasture driving. (slowly checking on livestock, not out mudding and playing) Getting in and out of the truck at gates and feeders, it comes in handy to have the chime turned off.

I have a 2017 Ram 3500 and the seatbelt alarm will activate as soon as truck goes over 5mph and driverís side is not buckled. Passenger side does not have a sensor and therefore will not set off alarm no matter what. I donít know if the warning ever stops or not though because I lasted for about 5 minutes one time and finally just gave in. IMO, no vehicle should have them. If I know the risk and am alright with dying in a horrible collision, I shouldnít be forced to wear one if I donít want to, but then again, thatís just me.
