Ram 6.4 Hemi owners service bulletin

I caught word from a buddy of mine with a 6.4 hemi that there is a recall/tech service bulletin comin down the pipe for a window of 6.4 hemi's.

Apparently there is a bulletin out for the 2014 model's
Model-Code
2500- DJ
3500-D2
3500CC-DD
4500/5500- DP

applying to vehicles built between June 16 2014 - October 7 2014.

The issue was the wrong wrist pins were installed in the engine causing a cold start knocking/ticking.

Solution appears to be a new engine...

My buddy's truck has gone under the knife already and a new engine is under way. There is also one other case for sure that i know of.

My truck is scheduled to go in on the 30th to be looked at for this noise. I had actually scheduled prior to hearing all this information and assumed maybe a cracked manifold or broken bolt...

lets hope for the best i suppose but RAM felt it necessary to issue me a case # prior to even getting my truck into the shop...

I will do my best to keep everything current...

At least its a good thing that Ram is owning up to the problem and fixing it instead of just telling the owners that it is normal for them to sound like that....I guess I don't have to worry, mine came off the line just last month but I will be following this to see what happens.

I have been a dodge technician for 22 years this service bulletin is only within a time window. If your truck was built on or after June 16th and before October 7th 2014. Yes the fix is a complete engine swap. Some guy at the engine plant must have been smoking that funny stuff when building the engines. 😂

At first read, I thought there was a window-glass problem, that only affected trucks with 6.4L Hemi engines!

They always try to fool-proof (aka "poke-yoke") these things to make it impossible to screw up. But that's not always possible/practical.

Good luck.

Your dates are what I seen as well.

It appears that Ram is doing what they need to do to correct the issue, which is all that can be asked...

There will always be issues, how they are fixed is what makes a builder who they are...

So with my 2015 2500 has the model code CJ but was built September 2014 must mean my engine is okay.
