Rambox (4'wide bed) hitch for 5th wheel

Ok am I in trouble.??? I just ordered a Ram Crewcab 1500 with Rambox side compartments so it is only 4' wide by 5'7" length. So I also ordered a Flagstaff 8528CRKWS, which I assume will have the revolution pin, so no slider. I was told the dealer will install a Pull Rite hitch or Demco. I know the hitch base is 3'6" wide. Can anyone provide a clue? Will the handle clear to release the pin?

Don upgrading - ride and trailer

Do you know what the payload of your ram is. I have a 2013 1500 quad cab bighorn with ram boxes and my payload is only 1100 lbs much to small for a fifth wheel.

lots of 1/2 ton Rams have embarrassing low payload figures. I would be concerned also with the pin box hitting the bed on sharp turns.

1500 Ram. Ram Box with Reese 16K hitch. Rockwood 8280ws. No issues. I bent the handle on the hitch to fit in the box.

Thank you thank you. Especially for pictures. I think I will now get a full 8 hours of sleep.

So how is mileage pulling and have you been over the Rockies with this rig?

The only mod to the truck (aside from adding the hitch) was adding Timbren SES to prevent any possible squat.

put 4 people in truck, hitch in bed, you will have to leave the camper home. Mini vans have that much payload capacity.

Is that your real payload or from the website. Mine is listed at 1596 lbs but because of options (ramboxes) the payload on the sticker is 1100lbs. I'm not sure were you got 1500 lbs payload, on the ram towing chart the basic truck is 1450 and if you have a mid level your into low 1400 for the crew cab 4X4. Not trying to be the weight police here just making you aware you may have less payload then you think.

Did you weigh your truck?
I just don't see 1590 anywhere on the ram sight for a crew cab 4X4.

Payload =GVWR - curb weight (6900-5350) 1590 I got this information out of the RAM Trucks sales information, in hand.
Ram Trucks - Towing Capacity Chart shows 1435, and the door sticker on the truck which has the tire pressure and payload listed shows 1206 (lower due to RAMBOX). So the truth changes regarding payload. So could I put myself and 4 wives in the truck safely I am just talking payload. Not safely for a number of other reasons too. Had to stir the pot or in my case Dutch Oven.

I do thank all those who answered. I backed out of the RAMBOX truck. Thinking, I do not want to have to leap

We got stuck with the Ram payload problem ourselves.

Try the 2500... they aren't that much more... about 1k. We got the Crew cab 4x4 for a great price. Payload is over 3k

I agree with others here....own a 4th gen Ram. Payload numbers are silly low. Although at the time i bought my truck, they were all within a few hundred lbs. I am looking at the new 6.4L 2500. Respectable Payload numbers and MPG is about what my 5.7 1500 gets now according to other Ram Forums. I like my truck and my trailer is well within the specs but there is not much room for error. If I had it to do over, would have went the 3/4 route even with the trailer I have. Just my Opinion. The 2500 6.4 is not much more than a 1500 optioned the same. Once you get into Oil burners, the numbers change on a larger scale.

step in to 2500

I was looking at a 2500 Tradesman without side rails and had difficulty getting in. Those who have 2500 does the side rail make a huge difference?

What do you mean by the side rail? If you mean the tubal steps, yes. I am 6" 4 and I use them to get in. I am not sure how my wife would get in without them. I have 2500 Tradesman with 4x4
