reese 20k slider issue

Having some trouble un-hitching with my 20k slider. When I pull the release bar out..it is not fully opening the catch from the throat of the hitch, and it snags on the kingpin and gets jammed. Once this happens it is a pain to get it to let go or to reconnect the kingpin to the hitch. If I give it a sharp pull once the camper is raised to a slight gap between the king pin plate and the hitch plate..it will open fully..but when I move the lever to the right to lock it open..the hook swings back out to about 1/4 closed position...and this is where my snag happens. Any thoughts? Adjustment to hitch? Going to take it back to my dealer if I can't figure it out here...but they have been a pain to deal with.
