Question Reese 5th Wheel Hitch

We have a 2013 Flagstaff Fifth wheel with a Reese Revolution Hitch on the trailer. We are driving a 2012 F350 with the trailer towing package. Help!!! What do we buy to put in the pickup? We just bought a B&W OEM Companion Hitch and now it says we can not use the wedge kit that is needed with the Reese Hitch. What do we need.

Contact Reese, I think they make a special wedge.

Thank you. We are very frustrated right now. Originally we called Reese and they wanted to sell us a $2500 hitch for our pickup and we told them that was a little much. We then called B&W and they said their hitch would fit in the pucks in our pickup (we have the trailer pkg) and would work with ouR Reese hitch on our flagstaff 5er. We are new to this rv thing, and can't even get the thing out of our yard yet.

Have you called B&W directly? I know I've read their warnings about the wedges, but I think the Reese might be different since its all designed together. If I recall right, there was an article in TrailerLife about using a Reese and a B&W. They even had a note saying that the pin was find with B&W since it was all together or something. I didn't have/know much about the Reese Revolution at the time, but I think it's what it was...

A picture of your hitch would help.

I have a B&W Patriot hitch and had some minor rotation at the hitch and it was suggested by Cequent (they make the Revolution Pin) to order the SWW-06 wedge. I just received it and it appears to be about 1/4" wider than the standard wedge and the service guy said the std wedge had some slop so hoping the extra 1/4" will stop that minor rotation on the hitch plate of the B&W. So check with Cequent (800-632-3290) about what wedge will work.

Going by your measurements, would it not be possible to weld a 1/8" steel strip to each side of the standard wedge or just build it up with weld? It is just sandwiched pcs of plate tack welded together to make it ~1" thick.

Have no idea, don't know what the difference is with the B&W. Building up the standard wedge would take about 10 minutes tops if it is only a little small to fit the sides of the chute. Only took me an hr to cut mine out, grind it, drill holes and install. (Even cutting it with the junk GE motor)

Never thought about building up the std wedge but the new specific B&W wedge was only $50 and I know it was designed for my hitch by them.

Agree, but the only thing the wedge does is stop the pin box from turning. As stated, I made my own just because I didn't like the looks of the pieced together wedge with slots that Reese furnished. With the round shape of the Reese wedge and slots, it will move eventually. You made a wise choice.

arthmary, why do you need the wedge? I'm pulling a 2013 Flagstaff 5th wheel with a 2012 f250 with the B & W Companion hitch, and it does fine.

Evidently he wants to activate the Revolution hitch which requires the pin to not swivel, thus the wedge.

Which was my point.
The trailer can be used with hitch de-activated "without wedges" but op would have to pay extra attention when making very sharp turns..

Unlike someone else on this forum R.B.

agreed, need to be cautious on sharp turns, but I think that applies to everyone. I know I have made 90° turns while backing, no problem with clearance, just hard on trailer.

The hitch currently is set up as standard but I like the peace of mind of making sure the trailer is not going to hit the cab, so will have the new specific wedge installed next Friday on our way up north.

Let us know how it works for you, and which wedge you use.
