Reese straight line spring bars

I'm trading my Salem 27DBUD with a dry tongue weight 772# for a 2016 Ever-lite 232RBS. The published dry tongue weight of the 232 is 400#. I have 1200# spring bars for my Reese straight-line hitch. After adding gas, battery, hitch hardware and gear in the pass through will total out to about 850#. I'm pretty sure I'm going to need spring bars that are less stiff. My question to you is would 1000 Lb. bars be the correct ones to use?

Are you sure about that weight? It seems unlikely that you could go from 400 to 850 just by adding cargo. In any event, you definitely need bars with lesser rating. You might want 800# bars.

Surprised me too. Gas bottles and battery weigh 120#. The hitch hardware is 100# and I'm figuring 200# in the pass through (may be high). Stuff really adds up. That's why I'm having to trade trailers. The tongue weight on the Salem was overloading my truck. Keep in mind the tongue weight on the 232 is a dry weight.
