We have the exact camper and I can give two different truck perspectives. I bought a new 2012 Ford F250 6.7 diesel 4x4 crew lariat last January and after 3 months, and constant problems it blew up with 4000 miles on it. Ford claims that I had 1/2 ounce of water in fuel tank and it completely ruined the complete fuel system in truck. All injectors, pump, fuel lines, sensors, EVERYTHING. Best thing was Ford denied warranty and it costs me $13,000 to fix it. Amazing thing is their new truck has two water separators on truck and water still made it thru them without any CEL's. Sure it had lots of power, comfortable, etc but with these newer diesel trucks and all the emissions crap on them, I'd be very afraid of buying another one. So I bought a 2012 Chevy 2500HD 6.0 gas crew 4x4 with 4.10 gearing and it pulls the camper JUST FINE. I live in southern Indiana which is rolling terrain and we went down into Smoky Mountains with it a few weeks ago and it pulled everything just fine. My diesel fuel mileage was around 11.5 pulling camper and with the gas its at 8mpg. Main differences between the two, $30vs. $100 oil changes every 5000 miles, new fuel filter on diesel every 15,000 miles, increased fuel cost per gallon on diesel, and slightly better fuel economy. I think you will be just fine with the Gas engine.
