Rockwood Signature Ultralite Pin Box Issue

Hi, new member here. I have a 2018 Signature Ultralite that comes from the factory with a Reese Revolution pin box/hitch. My truck has an 8 foot bed so I don't need a short bed pin box. I'd love to switch it out for a Reese Goose Box and use my truck's turnover ball hitch. After calling Lippert and Reese I was told the factory installed Revolution can't be switch out with any other pin box and there are no commercially available adapters. Huge disappointment! The Lippert frame is compatible with a goose box, but for what ever reason Rockwood eliminated all options for changing pin boxes on this model RV. Anyone have any knowledge of a work around or the possibility of fabricating an adaptor?

Hmmm. I googled it and didnít get a good answer. I would think Reese would know, but I might call back and ask why.

Next option might be an Andersen hitch as you can utilize the ball.

I was told the same thing when I asked about upgrading the Revolution to a 5th Airborne Sidewinder that has the air bag. The wings on the factory-installed Revolution are not compatible with anything else.

If Lippert won’t help, your only option would be to have a structural Engineer design a way to weld on a set of standard wings. I would not just trust that job to an experience welder for safety and liability reasons. If anything happened, it would be expensive if not deadly so I’d want an Engineer’s seal to rely on. That would be an expensive exercise.

You can use the gooseneck ball if you buy a B&W Companion hitch and lock out the Revolution. Not exactly what you want but it would allow you to have a clean truck bed.

Thanks, Iwannacamp and itat. The Anderson hitch would solve the weight issue of my Companion hitch, but looks like it may take up more real estate in the bed while towing. Not a huge issue, but one of my goals is to free up space for some other "stuff".

itat, yes, fabrication is a delicate issue and would have to be approached very delicately. Asking Lippert and Reese is touchy, concerning fabrication, as they can't/won't offer advice for liability reasons. I wonder if etrailer has the technical expertise to offer advice-- they wouldn't have product liability, so who knows. If y'all think of anything else, let me know.

Lippert Turning Point

I had issues with the Pin on my new Arctic Wolf, the pin is larger in diameter and I believe mine was installed sticking out about a quarter of an inch too far. Originally I had hoped the dealer could just swap it out for a regular ping box but Lippert said the frame was different (it clearly is) and if I didn't need the relocated pivot feature, to just leave the bolts in the back. I have been using an Anderson hitch since buying my '18 F350 CCLB, and they fixed me up with a new adapter of the correct diameter, problem solved (for me).
