It is a very common misconception shared by a vast majority of folks.

I just read thru this thread, and I don't think I saw the OP post an actual tongue weight. A lot of people are wondering if the TW is too light (absolute, and wrt the WDH bars), but no loaded TW given.

That said, the WDH seems to be set up nearly perfect:
1. The front wheelwell height is almost back down to stock height. IMO, the goal should be to have it exactly back to stock, but that's not always possible. Please do not start an argument on this point. This is my opinion, regardless of what OEMs are recently stating in their owners manuals to cover their liability.
2. The trailer is level.

Please provide a TW.
Also, have to taken a test drive since your last adjustment?

I cant find the exact TW weight but its over 500#s.

I reset the angle of the hitch and reconnected. Now only using 5 links and the bars point up a bit.

Added 25 gallons of water to front tank and some additional weight inside in front of the axles.

Will test it out in the morning.

OK, so after all that. Still does it. Maybe a little less but its still noticeable. Especially if I'm on a concrete road. Bump bump. Bump bump. Bump bump.

As I mentioned I'm on the 5th chain, bars angle up. If I come down one link, and level the bars, might lessen the tension?

And I've thought about no WD bars and just sway control. Might be to test that on a shorter trip.

correct, I would try for less torsion on the bars. I have a feeling you have too heavy of bars and that is what is causing the motion you are feeling. If you are unable to get the truck back to a leveled stance with the less torsion I may suggest either air bags or lighter weight bars to give you a little more cushion on the bumps... Matter of fact I highly recommend the bags regardless... You would love them! I think everyone with a bumper pull should definitely consider them!

Trailer drove terrible this morning. When I left work I decided to dump the water tank. Was much better after that.

Would definitely give it a try with sway control only and no wdh bars at all.

Some people recommend either towing with the fresh tank completely full, or completely empty. Others say the sloshing of a partial tank doesn't matter, as it's a small percentage. But wiht a tank in just the right (wrong) place, some may be more sensitive than others.

Well the ride home, no fresh water and repositioned WD bars was better. On some roads, perfect, but the worse the road, worse the bounce.

Never got as bad as having the tank full.

I'm going to call my nearby scales and see if I can get some time this weekend.

Took at trip to the scales this morning.

I"ll post the weights like this: Steer\Drive\Trailer\Gross

Fully hook, WD hitch on:
3180\3280\4680\11140

Hooked up, WD hitch not on:
2820\3840\4580\11240

Truck only:
3100\2940\00\6040

Notes: Trailer had 1 empty LP tank. Was loaded for camping. Truck lacked 2 bikes and a cooler full of stuff in the bed. Cant explain the extra 100 pounds except she might have caught me stepping on\off the scale after pushing the ridiculously high call button.

On the way home I drove with no WD. Truck handled fine, NO bounce.

Just to help you get over the feelings that it may never be correct. I have pulled my trailer with 4 different tow vehicles, having to change the hitch set up for every one of them. I travel down one particular section of road that causes just what you are describing no matter how I have it set, or what vehicle is doing the pulling. No where else is this a problem. When you are test driving after changing, are you traveling the same road. Just a thought. No matter what I do there are six miles of 4 lane concrete highway that mine bounces on and doesn't do it anywhere else. Could be that your WD hitch is fine.

If everything is level with no WD, I would hook up the sway bars only and go with it. If the tv can handle the load and sits level, nothing says you have to use a WDH.

It pulled fine but if I add 2 folks in the truck plus more stuff in the bed, I'm going to have an issue.

Based on those #s is my tongue weight 640#s? Are my 1000# spring arms too much? They do make an 800# for my setup.

Just based strictly on your previous post that it towed fine with no bars, i.e. no bounce, I would engage the sway bars and load it up and try it. Evidently the 1000# bars are too much. I would try to borrow a set of 800# and even a set of 600# and see what happens. Adding another 300#-400# to your weight will no doubt raise the ire of the wt police, but I would give it a try. JMO.

I'm debating going to Camping World and discussing a bar swap.

I wouldnt swap the bar for a lighter bar but that is me - I have a 2011 - 2306 and have the 1,000lb equalizer 4 point hitch

what WD hitch did you buy - I never saw mention of it?

reason why I say this is cause I had picked up my trailer empty and it was setup correctly from dealer and it was all over the place on the voayage home - after loading trailer with gear and re-adjusting the hitch setup - have had zero issue since

He's tried the 1000# bars in all manner of loading and they are giving him fits.
