I saw the video last night. I am kinda surprised that Ford is possibly going with a diesel considering the money and marketing they have into the Ecoboost program, I would think that a F150 diesel would cut into the 3.5L sales quite a bit. But it would be nice to have it as a motor option.

3.5l ecoboost is more a heavy lifter than mileage queen.

A 3.0 TD isn't going to dethrone the 3.5 EB in towing capability either.

I could see with tighter EPA regs the 3.5 becoming a premium option, like the 6.2 was, with the 2.7 and the 3.0TD being the normal options.

I think you have hit the nail on the head with one of those Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus tent hammers. It is all about money and staying within the current requirements.
