Bottom line! Is it safe, within specs? Then drive what you are happy with or can afford. However, if you are overloaded and cause an accident, you need to get fried. Do not make my safe trip become a disaster “just because you THINK it can be done”. Same goes for those who always drive on that ratty edge of abilities just to get there a bit faster.

All the brands have issues. Deal with them and move on. No need to flame and trash another brand because you have the need to. Be safe, be courteous, and drive within the limits of your gear, and abilities. You never know when the next idiot is going to cut you off, have a blowout, or is just P/O’d because you are driving near the speed limit.

No body slamming Ford just putting out info for possible issues that could end up as recall. Yep this thread has shied away from original topic. Later RJD

Just to show about tow weights I tow a fiver that is considered a 1/2 ton towable. The truck is rated to tow 10000lbs the trailer dry weight is 8385lbs the max weight to carry is 3000lbs that takes me to 11380 over 1380lbs over my Tow vehicle and my Truck is a 2001 1 ton dually. I'm real careful on what I load in mine never carry more than I need and have it weighed so I'm never over. That being said I would never tow this fiver with a 1/2 ton.

You own a Dodge, no need for you to enlighten Ford or GM owners. Worry about your own brand or info for a fix on an RV.

I’ll have to chime in. I’ve got a tundra crew max limited. Great grocery getter and great ride. I pull a tt at 5200 dry with a blue ox pro. Does a great job. If the trailer was in the 7000 lb range I’d look elsewhere for a tow vehicle. But right now I’m happy with the 5200 dry and good reliability.

I'm not sure why he has it out for f150's and their brakes. If I owned a Dodge, or ram or whatever they call them now, I'd be more concerned about my transmission.

Very true. It wasn’t too long ago that Toyota frames rusted away into nothing.

I worry about all brands and you just a die hard Ford guy that cant stand any bad topics on Ford. Ive seen a lot on all vehicles having issues and being posted. I don't bad mouth folks for that as its good info. Have a great day and stay safe. Later RJD
