Saw this combo leaving the campground this morning...

Stopped last night at a CG in NC for a quick overnighter on our way to Myrtle Beach. While we were waiting for the rain to let up, so we could pack and leave, we noticed this family pulling out and just shook our heads. Saw at least 3 kids in the SUV.

I think the TV can handle that TT with a proper WDH and sway bar. From the picture the owner is using neither. I've seen much worse.

Sad but unfortunately, it's not that much of an unusual site out there on the highways. All you call do is shake your head and steer clear...

For the safety of his family, if I had the chance I would have to offer "free advice".

That is an accident just waiting to happen.

You can't cure stupid.
Hopefully he only had a few miles to get home.
I can't imagine what that would be like to drive.

No weight distribution can be applied to this one.

You can't cure stupid but you can teach people that just don't know. I find it amazing that anyone can purchase a trailer, 30 feet long+, and could weigh over 10,000. Hook it up to their truck and drive off the lot without any training or knowledge. Some of us can do it but some can not. I think there should a basic rv training required before people can tow anything. I look at my truck and trailer at rest stops next to semi's. I am just as high and all most as long and at almost 10 tons I had no training. Now I have been pulling trailers for over 25 years so I have experience. But others buy the same combo have no experience or training, get hooked up at a dealer and hit the road. That seems wrong.

I see that all the time cruising down the highway. It's usually a pickup truck sagging badly, bumper pulling a long TT.

Motor Home drivers scare me more than anything, they are as big as a Grey Hound bus which require CDL's and a vast majority of them are driven by folks that have never driven anything other than a car. We watch them pull into the campgrounds in FL and get out and unfold their walkers and wheelchairs. Now that's scary!

Were all those photos while moving? That Escalade should have rear load leveling suspension... doesn't look like it can keep up (though even with load leveling a weight distributing hitch is still a darn fine idea)

I believe it was the Romans who described this situation best; they called it "Sagamus Maximus".
Lethal for chariots as well...

We haven't seen the scene you described yet, but that would be scary to see

RV'ing is a luxury & not a necessity...with that said, you see so many people go buy the biggest TT on the lot but take no consideration with their TV in being capable & safe...if you can afford the camper, you can afford the right TV or wait it out & continue tent/cabin camping until you can do both properly!
I cringe everytime I see setups like this :0

In today's Sue Crazy world, I just wonder if they and others like them might be exposing themselves to possible lawsuits down the road if the buyers get in an accident and claim negligence on the dealers part.

They would have to sue every dealer in the US of A. The state laws govern the driver's license requirements, not the dealers.

I'm surprised that people don't. I jumped at the chance to take a drive with one of the dealer's techs when I bought my fifth wheel. He was incredibly helpful and I learned a lot.

It hasn't happened yet as far as I know, but anything is possible today with all the ambulance chasers ads on TV and a lot of hungry lawyers out thre.
