Did you buy a motor and put it in, or buy a truck with the motor? Your first post is confusing, but then again, I'm easily confused...

I believe he said it was a 2013. So it came with the motor.
I would hate to try to swap that motor into something! Its TIGHT!

Ditto! 21k and no issues. 5K of it towing camper. Totally satisfied.

No doubt! I think I read they have to take the cab off the frame to do any major work on it. I swear if you laid underneath with the hood open you would not be able to see any light coming from the top. That under hood area is PACKED!

My new one:

Love my Scorpion. Put 8000 miles on it in 9 days this winter 4000 or so towing over 12000 lbs. Have about 24000 total on her now with not one issue. Man what a truck!

Just before I left the Ford world 2 years ago, I had a 2012 6.7L tore all the way down to find a locked up crank shaft- they have tab-less main bearings and one of the bearings had spun and blocked the oil supply hole. Truck had 9,000 miles.

There must have been improper clearance on the crank pin. Tab brgs will spin also, had it happen on racing engines. For cam brgs, there is a groove in the block to allow oil into the journal regardless of the oil hole orientation. Sounds like that is not the case on the main brg caps of these engines.

No, these engines have an oil hole like the 7.3,6.0,6.4...n

Well, the bearing mfg could groove & slot both halves and eliminate the problem. Poor engineering IMO.

Ford still sells more light diesels than Ram and GM combined--as in the past. The cab and chassis of the Ford is just so much better than the competition.

Many of the problems with the Navistar 6.0 and 6.4 engines were Ford's fault--getting cheap when they spec'd out the engines. And when Navistar didn't pay their half of the warranty costs, it hit the fan with Ford holding up payments for their engines.

Ford designed the engines, Navistar just built them. Ford's last best engine was the old flathead.

My 2003 F250 Lariat crew cab 2wd is one of the last 7.3's built. It may be loud, but with a power programmer and an additional 80 hp it performs great.

I never intended to buy another truck, and it's been a great value in transportation. At 116K miles, it's been bulletproof--with never any warranty work done.

Navistar's used many of the same engines in their mid size trucks, however they used some different components that improved performance over what Ford spec'd their engines with. I swear my local Navistar garbage truck sounds just like my 7.3.

Bamaman, if I were you I'd just forget getting a new rig. That one is barely even broken in. Those 7.3's are good engines. If I liked my truck, I would love to keep it forever if I could.

I'm hoping this new truck I just bought will be my last one. I know it will outlast me, and I really like the idea of having a good old truck for a long time. They can be rebuilt, and the parts can be replaced. Something about your old truck that you have had for a long while. It kinda becomes who you are. People know you in that old truck. If a person isn't into getting all the newest do dads that all the new trucks have, then why get rid of it. My new truck is pretty plain, but it has all I need to become my favorite truck of all time.

My old 7.3 suits me fine, and my F250 Lariat still looks great. The value in a diesel is after you drive it 10 years--or over 200K miles.

$8K diesel option is much more than it was in 2002, and the mpg spread between a gas and diesel engine is getting less. Locally, we've seen gas to be about 30 cents less than diesel--down from 70 cents differential.

But if you're towing over 10K lbs., a diesel is mandatory. Otherwise, it's much cheaper in the short run and long run to go the big gas engine.
