I am having a new Reese 16k fifth wheel hitch installed. Any pro's and con's on the pin box needing to be in the truck bed?

What are you asking?

Do you mean take the pin box off the camper to have it in the truck when hitch is installed?

They can install hitch with no camper in site if that's the case.

From the title I'm guessing he means the 7 pin plug I'm the bed, our at the bumper?

Mine is at the bumper and works fine. My neighbor had a problem one time, so Wants his in bed, but just unpluggs when coming into or leaving a campground. Tight turns can catch, but I don't think it'd be any better in the bed either.

Well I confuse easily but after rereading I understand better.
Rear left of bed is the best spot.
Pin box still not needed as the cord is long enough to reach bumper receptical.

I agree - our Ram came with the plug connector in the bumper, but the hitch installed mounted a new one in the left rear sidewall and I like it better there.. It seems like it is less likely to damage there.

Sorry for the confusion, however I was referring to the plug in the bumper. I have had a couple quotes on my installation and some shops prefer not to mess with splicing a factory installed pin box to accommodate a new one in the truck bed.

I was hoping for some pros and cons of having the cord rubbing on the tailgate

I put mine in the bed, I did not like having it hang over the tailgate. Was concerned about rubbing and marking my tailgate. I also feel more confident that it is in the bed. I also did the left rear. I did it myself, got it from amazon, took about an hour. They come plug-n-play, no wire splicing for most. I would recommend it IMO.

It is a neater job having it in the box, but ours is in the bumper with no issues. The cord does not rub on the tailgate, and it never catches on anything.
Either way works just fine, simply personal preference. Or in my case, simply too lazy to bother changing it.

I don't know what type of TV you have but my TV had the wiring for a 7-pin plug already tie-wrapped to the frame. All I had to do was buy the 7-pin plug and drill a hole in truck box then feed wire through hole and connect to plug. Now I have 2 plugs and can use either one.
