I have a 2000 lb unit. It works well after I make it "settle down". I will push down on the tongue several times to make that happen. If you just set the tongue down on the scale, it does not measure correctly until you move the tongue around a bit.
The Sherline scale is most accurate in the middle of the scale. If you expect a tongue/pin weight of 1000 lbs (+/- 400 lbs), the the 2000 lb. scale is the best option. If you are expecting a tongue/pin weight of 2000 lbs and up (maybe 600 lbs. down), then the 5000 lb. unit would be best.
OC, I like your setup !! If I get the new 5th wheel we are hoping for, I might do something like that. I will have to get a 5000 lb. gauge, though.
