My mom was also an army brat, met my dad at APG, got married there. 22 years later he was stationed at and retired from APG. My sister actually had her wedding reception in the same officers club room that my parents did! Oh and my parents rode a tank from the base chapel to the officers club for their reception.
While it is ironic that I live in MD now, we were never stationed at APG. Dad started out with his testing at Ft. Knox - stationed there from '59-'62 - he did hot weather testing during that time in Yuma, AZ. He spent a month or two out there during those years each summer. Then, they packed up the tank and us and we spent 3 years ('62-'65) at Ft. Greeley, Alaska at the Arctic Test Center. Great experiences for us.
