I guess my question is why is he selling it? .......When I sell something there is usually a reason like my 112K Ford couldn't keep a transmission for more than 15K after 89K I put 2 transmissions in it and was needing a 3rd...... most I towed behind it was 4,800 lbs so I sold it..........

Just depends............. but some will get 300K out of any brand / any year..........

I'm pretty sure it's the 5.7. I'm pulling a Roo 19, probably not much more than 5000lbs. I will probably be paying about what he will be offered as a trade, say around $5000. He is going to buy a 3500 diesel dually.

what they are offering in trade, and what its really worth are not always the same. Just a numbers game. Look it up for your self.

$5,000 is too much. NADA trade is $3300-4000.

One thing I didn't mention, it needs to be thoroughly checked over before you buy it. Low mileage is one thing, but it is 15 years old. All sorts of issues could crop up just from age.

I disagree with you, but there is not such thing as "nickel and dime headache" any more. It is more along the way of $50 and $100 headaches.

The 6.5l diesel fuel system had a terrible pump issue. With pmd issues or optical sensor concerns. Just a few issue. The transfer pump was a crappie design. Had a few Crack block issues, due to first year for oil cooling nozzle in block. I would go with a third year duramax. If well maintained. ..

You know how the man drove it. Did he ever talk of it being in the shop? If you can afford his price and you want it, you should get it. Or buy that new truck of the lot. New stuff never gives you any trouble. And, And they have warranties... Wait, I know I have heard this before. Oh yeah, I have a TT.

My neighbor takes very good care of his truck, I trust him and he has already disclosed any issues with the truck. The primary being fuel economy compared to my Trailblazer. The only reason that he is selling the truck is that he is moving up from a truck camper to a 5er that is too large for the 2500. It would be great to get 5 years out of the truck pulling my Roo and then I plan on moving up to a new truck and 5er.

If you are comfortable with it and its a price you are happy with I say go for it but plan on some repairs in the 5 years. Still cheaper than a new truck and the added benefit of no payment!
