Silverado 1500 Max Trailering

I'm currently looking at a new Silverado LTZ 1500 with the Max Trailering package. Wondering if anyone is currently towing with one. Trailer is right about 8200 lbs ready for camping, Surveyor SC321BHTS.

Anyone with experience towing with this truck with the Max Trailering package? The numbers all line up, I'd be under on both payload (1900 lbs) and tow rating (11k lbs).

Thanks. Running those numbers I am over 1,000 under the minimun. My tongue weight on my trailer is 989 loaded and with batteries and propane full. No water as we're always camping full hookups.

I'm very much leaning towards pulling the trigger. Excellent discounts, 0% financing.

The only concern I would have is the 36 foot length so don't scrimp on you hitch setup.

I have the equalizer brand WDH. I've towed this trailer with both an F150 EcoBoost and a Ram 2500 5.7l. It has the standard bed vs the short bed I had with the Ford.

Also how much stuff in your truck?

Mine is 700lbs over empty weight with me, wife, 2 young kids, dog and gear. Stuff adds up fast.

Is that 1900 the number on the door sticker or a number off the website? If not from door sticker, it's actual payload will be lower.

Have you weighed your hitch weight loaded and ready to camp? If not, assume 15%, or 1230lbs.

So if you were me and my 700lbs of stuff and assuming 1900 c.c.c. and 1230lb hitch weight, I'm over payload with your truck choice and camper.

Replace the 'P' tires with a LT load range D or E and add air bags

Here is my math

Hitch weight per CAT scale 989
Hitch 65 lbs
Passengers and driver 375
Crap in can of truck 50
Stuff in bed 100
Puts me at 1,579. The TT weight was CAT scale weight before a 1 week trip. The CCC is yellow sticker. I figure I have roughly 250 lbs breathing room.

Unless I'm forgetting something.

If I am missing/forgetting something please call me on it, I'd rather exhaust everything than to make an expensive mistake.

For about $350 you can get "Super Springs" installed which is nothing more than an extra leaf spring. It is supposed to give you an extra 1,000 lbs load. I had a set installed on my Silverado 2500 HD Duramax/Allison just to help with a heavy tongue weight [1,500 lbs]. They do make a difference. No adjusting or adding air and they don't have any effect on your unloaded ride.

I pull a Windjammer 3008 with our 2010 Silverado with no problems. TT weights 7800 empty. I have made modifications to the truck though. Cold air intake, throttle body spacer, and magnaflow exhaust. Plus a flashpacq tuner. I plan on putting on air bags in the spring.

I guess the question you have to ask is are you OK with being at 250 on wiggle room. Some people here would say it's ok even to be slightly overweight, some would say never go over and always leave a fair amount of wiggle room. It all comes down to how safe you feel on the road, and how comfortable you are that you won't ever need to increase your load by a few hundred pounds. If it were me, I'd want to have more towing capacity on my truck but that's me. Some are more comfortable playing it closer to the numbers.

I tow with this setup and love it. Paid extra for an upgrade to the towing mirrors. Best decision ever.

Springs and airbags don't get you anything extra payload. They help your truck handle the allowable payload.

I have 2012 silverado 1500 with nearly identical numbers. Traveled of West all summer. Loved it. Do it!

I had a 13 Max package(6.2, 3.73 rear) with a 9500lb toy hauler TT used an equalizer hitch, factory tires at recommended 38psi No problems experienced
In April I moved to a 15 Max (5.3,3.73s) again using factory tires and recommended tire psi of 38(rears 35 front) again no problems.
Very satisfied with my TV have since moved to my first 5th wheel 8280ws love it even more.
WD hitch adjustment most important to me, All sugestions made are good, and have used most of them on one trailer or another (6th trailer over 25 years) Should you choose the LTZ Personally prior to modifying anything try it out as is and modify to suit your needs and tastes

So what is the difference between a 2500 and a 3500 series? For a fact, the 3500 has larger leaf springs, but it LOOKS like the same axle. I maybe wrong. I know the differential gears are generally lower on the 3500, but I think more and larger leafs are the main upgrade or so my RV shop told me about his transport 3500.

Well I did something I swore I'd never do, 2016 F150. Long story but the company has a long history with Ford and we get pricing and financing that the others couldn't touch. Sticker was $59.7k, we paid $47k.

I have a 2500 so now I have not towed with your model, I do see a number of 1500 out there on the roads, so they should be good.

As long as the numbers work out right and your checked all the online towing calculators your should be good to go.
