Silverado 1500 Toad w/ 3170DS Sunseeker

We're looking at purchasing a new(ish) Silverado 1500 to tow four down with our Sunseeker 3170DS. Just talked to my RV guy, whom I trust very much and he mentioned the new 1500's are needing to disconnect the negative on the battery before towing and have been giving them some issues.

Wondering if anyone out there is aware of this specific issue and if so, should I change my mind about the vehicle?

This is mainly a day-to-day driver and we'll only tow for a few weeks in the summer and the weekend.

1st Choice - Silverado 1500 (size for 3 carseats, and weight < 5000 lbs.)
Others - Nissan Xterra (manual only), Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (crappy ratings by Consumer Report and kindof $$$ for what you get)

For clarification, I found the 2015 requires, "Negative battery cable must be disconnected." which the previous models did not. This must be what he is referencing.
