Truck looks nice and hope it will not take over a year to get the HD trucks. Lets hope GM doesn't try to fudge on fuel mileage like Ford did with there diesels and got caught just like Volkswagen. Later RJD

Silverado Diesel

IMHO there’s no reason for a “mini diesel”! It’s only benefits are good gas mileage. In most cases (not all so save it) people don’t buy a truck for that reason. Like the ecodiesel and Nissan “mini diesel” there’s not much of a difference if any at all on towing. It’s still a 5 or 6 lug half ton. For the price of those trucks, again IMHO buy a real diesel 2500 and not be limited (within reason) to towing like most 1/2 tons.

Aluminium in a GM? Oh the humanity! Next will be an oil burner in a 1500!

Daughter has a Colorado diesel and loves it. Huge mpg and tows most anything, and she loves it.

GM already has a inline 6 that go in some of there 3/4 ton. That straight 6 has more torque at 7.1 then the V8 Duramax at 6.6.
Its actually a great engine.
Not sure about the new ones for the 1/2 ton trucks though.
My guess would be it will be a fantastic engine as long as they give drive train options.

Due to their higher weight of the diesel engine, the payload capacity is less than the identical truck with a gas engine.

That's how they get the low-end torque up.
