Single or Dual

My truck is a 1999 GMC Sierra Classic. Someone told me it would pull(breath)better with dual exhaust . Is this true?

What other mods would you do to the truck to compensate for the "extra exhaust"? larger air intake, bigger carb or tuning to to the EFI............

I was thinking about this same thing. I have an 05 dodge 1500 with the 4.7 liter. I need about 1000 pounds more towing capacity. I'd like to just get rid of the truck and get a 2500 but i have about 9 more months to pay on the camper before that can happen.
Any suggestions to improve towing performance?

Check my sig for my mods ... Would not pull with out them. I noticed a real aceraltion difference with Cold Air Intake.

I have 2 left to do; Electric 16" fans and exhaust headers.

exhaust helps, intakes are a big help. but get a cat-back system, and go stainless, the price is not much more and will not rust every other year.

I do exhaust on all my trucks and a cat-back will help, I have also had locals do dual systems for me, and they looked and sounded great, but didn't notice performance. on my 01 tahoe, I've got a magnaflow system(single side exit) and love it.

Dual exhaust wont do anything. You need cold intake with bigger diameter exhaust going back. If you drive a diesel and your state permits it cut the cat off straight pipe. Check your warranty as well it might void it. You want a lot of air comming in and out. It will lower your EGT's.

Towing is about torque not horsepower. Be careful with your mod strategy. You might increase horsepower but wreak havoc on your torque. That is not the way to go. You want the most torque you can get at the lowest RPM.
