Smoothing out the ride while towing the 5ver...I called Prime Time for suggestions to help reduce the bounce while traveling To Florida from Michigan via I-75.. The rota flex pin box was mentioned.. I am looking for feedback from those that have this model...my current pin box is the factory lippert 1621..thanks

We pull our fifth wheel with an F250 also, and added Goodyear Airbags on the truck. It has made a tremendous difference in smoothing out the ride. One route we take monthly would almost buck you out of the truck - but with the airbags, it's hardly noticeable. We have the standard Lippert pin box as well on our Columbus 320RS.

My wife complains all the time how rough our 2004 F-250 rides, been looking for away to help her out. I do not need air bags to level my truck out, Can you tell me how they would help with the ride. or is that the answer, and how much did goodyear charge you if they added them and not you?

Airbags will help a lot in smoothing out the ride...one of the main reasons I installed them...Easy remedy!

Air bags help cushion the bouncing affect.
Much like how shocks dampen a rough road.
Speaking of shocks .
If your tv shocks have alot of miles on them or are factory shocks over 60,000 miles replace them with a high quality set such as monroe.

Hi

I have the rotoflex. It's on the lower end of the pin box upgrades price wise but still around $600. It's not airbags but has a big rubber bushing and a pivoting king pin plate. It was put on at the factory as part of our package. Seems to help alot.

My plan, and likely in this order are Bilstein shocks for the truck, air pin box for the camper and finally air bags for the truck with inboard compressor (it'll be nice to not carry my air compressor in the basement and hope I need it when shore power is available!).

But, that list is solely from reading on forums.

X2 on that order of priority......esp the Bilsteins. I opted for the HD shocks.

I installed a MoRyde pin box and it made a world of difference. Even the wife made a comment that you could hardly tell the trailer was back there. I ordered from RadAuto.com for less than $600 and free shipping.

Did it raise the nose of your trailer more than the stock box?

X2 on all the above. We have air bags, bilstein shocks but what really made a big difference is the BD3 hitch mounted in the truck bed. The Hensley BD3 employs two air bags and a pair of shocks built into the hitch, really smooths out the ride. More expensive than most 5th wheel hitches but worth every penny. You get what you pay for.

I think an air hitch will be about the only thing that would make me switch away from my B&W. I've heard nothing but good about them - especially the Hensleys.

Shocks on the trailer gets to the root cause of the problem. Stop the trailer bounce and the problem goes away.

While you're right - are there any bolt-on solutions for this that don't require custom fabrication? You're blessed to have a great mind and access to a workshop that can make this happen. Unfortunately, the majority of us are limited in what we can do and have to go with COTS solutions.

Might be less expensive to have them custom made than all the add on solutions. There are fab shops all around.

Thanks Turbo, what would you recommend for my F-250? Are all monroe the same? I got 123,000 miles on it now.....

Honestly, I can't say that I disagree. I thought I had read on rv.net about an air suspension for fifth wheels that appeared to be fairly bolt on, but of course, I can't find it now.
