Goodbye - 2015 Sierra 6.2l with max tow...
Hello! - 2018 F250 XLT 6.2l with 5th wheel prep package, 4.30's, plow/camper package, high mount camera and several other toys.
Sad to see the GMC go but wow...just wow what a difference and I haven't even towed yet. Thanks to this forum I was able to make a very educated decision. So educated that apparently here in WNY I have the only F250 with the 5th wheel package and the 4.30's in a 2000 mile radius. They had to search high and low to find it. Thanks everyone!

Love the color of your new truck. Congrats. Are those Goodyear Wranglers the Pro rated load range E tires?

Like you said I did not buy this looking for economy but mileage has improved some with mileage. Have 4K on the clock now and getting a little over 15 when not towing

Thanks! I believe the answer is yes. Haven't double checked actually. U just know it is the upgraded option from Ford.

I just added the reese adapter and my hitch. Man that puck system was worth it. A few adjustments on the adapter and solid as a rock.
I do have to say, it seems like the hitch sits further forward in this truck than my last. I'm not sure if that is because the bed is slightly bigger or if my last hitch was installed slightly further back.
I've never had to use my slider because but it looks like with this one I might. I guess I'll find out on Saturday when I hook up and adjust the pin box/hitch to get it all level.
First trip is Monday the 30th, about a 4 - 5 hour drive. Some flat and some rolling. Can't wait.
Thanks for the relies everyone.

Can’t help you with that one. I went with the Demco Autoslide (for Ford Pucks) so mine’s always slide. No idea if it actually needs to slide since it’s always back when I’m turned.

I just bought a 2018 F250 XLT at the end of June and it was an upgrade from a 2010 Silverado 1500 and wow what a difference. I LOVE my new truck! Now I know why my Dad was a Ford man. I towed with less than 1000 miles on mine as well, I just had an oil change done at about 1400 to get that break in oil out of the engine. Congrats on the new truck and enjoy.

I sincerely hope you enjoy your purchase. Looks like around $50k?
My wife and I bought a 2014 F350 Dually 4x4 crewcab longbed 6.7 with 33k miles for $42k... and very happy to rid of our '05 Titan we had for 12.5 years...

For those of you who are driving Ford Super Duty trucks, did you consider gas and diesel, or had your mind already been made? Also, what was your decision criteria for choosing the power plant you bought.
Thanks.

I previously owned a 1999 F350 SRW with the 7.3 (only year badge on fender). Then came the Titan, and I really missed the diesel and long-bed for 12.5 years... My mind was made up to get a 6.7 when we went shopping around. Buy used and low mileage. Save many thousands! In fact, they don't come in Green Gem Metallic like ours anymore!

Dangerous question on this forum...
So here is my honest feedback. So I really wanted a diesel and I am grateful enough to be able to afford one. So as I shopped I had an open mind. I hit the GM dealer and walked by a guy that was all pissed off and yelling. Asked my salesperson what was up? He just bought a brand new GM 6.6 and with only a few thousand miles was having issues and it left him on the side of the road. It unfortunately it happens, with any brand.
As I continued to shop I found the almost exact RAM 6.7 I wanted. Test drove and started talking with the dealer. It was a used 2017 with 10k. After we started looking into it more, in less than a year it had 2 owners. Something just didn't seem right.
At the Ford dealer it was similar to the GM story above. Some slight differences but none the same. And none of this is any slap at the diesel trucks I still really want one.
So at the end I just thought for me at least maybe it was just a sign. I drove all of them and decided I liked the look, ride and packages of the Ford better. I also like the fact you can get the 4.30 gears. So that is my story. It is a 2nd vehicle for me so fuel mileage doesn't bother me too much.
[Disclaimer - this is my 2 cents and mine only, this is not to start a gas v diesel war. This is my story and nobody else's, your experience maybe different and really that is ok - Disclaimer end]

For us, it was two things:
1) I only wanted to get into a 3/4 ton. There are some other regulations that kick in if your GVWR is over 4500 KG (9900 lbs) that are a real grey area about what's actually legal. To keep away from that headache, I wanted to be under the cap. When you're trying to stay under 9900 lbs, the extra 800-900 lbs of the diesel engine really makes a big dent in your available payload (even if it's only by the sticker, not the capability).
2) Despite that, I was still willing to go diesel if I found the right one. Everything on the lots here were diesels, so it would have saved me having to order one. Besides, diesels are easier to fill up when towing since you can use the big-rig lanes. However, every single time I went for a test drive (which had to be diesel because that's all the dealers had on the lots) two of my family members would get sick, especially when reversing. I know the new diesels don't smell anymore, but obviously there was still 'something' in the exhaust fumes they were reacting to. Having a truck that makes my family sick every time they rode in it just wouldn't do.
So, I ended up having to custom order my truck in order to get the gasser I wanted. Then panicked as it was delayed and didn't arrive until 3 days before our first scheduled camping trip with the new fiver we had already bought that my old 1/2 ton just couldn't tow (lousy payload aside, there was just no way to put a fiver hitch between the ramboxes.) But it's all worked out and this thing drives like a dream. Way more stable than the 1/2 ton ever was, though, to be fair, I've only towed the new trailer with it, and I don't have a fair apples to apples comparison of towing the same trailer with both trucks. I'm sure a bit of fiver vs bumper pull is in that as well.

It will get the job done. Being able to afford a diesel wasn't a deciding factor. I tow one weekend or so a month but I drive it to work 5 days a week. Had my 2005 Ram w/Cummins for 9 years and would go weeks or months (winter) without hauling anything heavier than a case of beer. I know what I'm missing with a gasser and decided the extra cost wasn't worth it in my application.

Congrats on the new Ford. Those new F250s are very good looking - tempted.
The larger gassers that are coming out lately are getting a lot of attention, even the 6.4 Hemi. I'm seeing more and more of these big displacement gas pullers.
Mine is an older 2500HD with a 6l, but after a tune (Black Bear on premium fuel) it pulls our Crusader quite respectfully, and at +9mpg towing 12,000# at 65-70 mph. I even get 16mpg now without the 5er.
Enjoy your new rig!
