So who all have weighed their tow vehicle

I was curious as to how much the new to us F250 weighed given it has a 9600lb GVWR so I took it to the local landfill and had it weighed.

I was suprised to say the least when it showed 7374 lbs on the scale with a full tank and no one in it.

That was a suprise given our old 2008 Dodge 2500 Megacab 4x4 hemi weighed abt 6800 with a full tank and the DW and I in it, but it only had a gvwr of 8800. But it is 1.1 inches longer than the Ford.

The Dodge was a loaded Laramie and the Ford a loaded Lariat FX4, neither has a sunroof or rear seat entertainment systems and both have 3.73 gearing.

2005 Nissan Titan. All ready to go camping with wife, 6392 lbs. gvwr is 6522 which every time I go I am overloading the truck by the time I hook my toy hauler to it. Nothing I can do about it now I just have to be careful. I guess the only thing I have working in my favor is I am still 1000 lbs under gcwr.

I've got a similar truck with the 6.2L except its 4 X 4, not FX4. I weighed in ready to tow at 7760, my GVWR is 10000.

Hi

Do what Herk did and go to a Catscale and get the truck and trailer weighted so you know for sure. I was not sure about doing this but they know you are not a commercial trucker.

Weigh both then unhook and weight the truck. You can mathematically figure out the rest and if you are stopped you have it to show the authorities.

The cost was about $20.00 all in. Cheap and better than guessing.

Many of y'all's 3/4 and 1 ton trucks weigh more empty than the GVWR on my 1/2 ton truck.

Wow, looking at some of these numbers, especially diesel rigs, I thought I would be much lighter with a gas engine. I'm going to re-weigh to verify my numbers.

Are you sure on your GVWR? The book says it is only the diesel that has a 10k GVWR.

Not sure why you think anyone is guessing on weight, I had mine weighed as I stated and as near as I can see so did everyone else who replied. Also I know I am way under my GCWR.

If you reweigh within 24 hours the second weigh (at the same weigh station) is a dollar.

I read his post again and I don't think he was implying anyone was guessing. Just said to weigh to make sure.

Here is my combined ticket. (that same weigh day) 1 dollar
I am lighter now (lots of stuff moved to the garage as "not needed in 3 years") and need to revisit the scales. I will make a trip in February loaded for Florida (fingers crossed DW will be well enough by then).

My 05 crewcab d- max 4x4 w/ 35" tires, 5/8 tank of fuel, 1/3 toolbox full of tools, me(160), and I don't remember on the hitch came out to 7340 lb at our local farm center scales. (Gvw is 9200)Thier scales get checked frequently cause of all the feed, seed and fertilizer they sell.

Oh and it didnt cost a dime, but they are neighbors and I have been trading with them my whol life.

It always seems impressive with the high GVWR of the truck until you shockingly, see how much the truck weighs ready to camp.

BTW our F250 V10 weighs 7500 with a GVWR of 9400 lbs.

I just had my truck weighed this weeked.
2003 Silverado 2500HD with 6.0 gas engine and LPG conversion.
Weights are with 1/2 tank gasoline, full tank of LPG, 5th wheel hitch in the bed, me, the wife and our 3 year old in his car seat. Plus all the other bits and bobs you carry in the truck.
Front axle 3454lbs
Rear axle 2926lbs
Total 6380lbs
GVWR is 9180lbs (but mine has been downrated in the Uk to 7700lbs - just a paperwork exercise, no mechanical changes)

Im surprised the newer trucks are SO heavy too! I thought mine was a monster....!

Regards,
Simon
