Staying one night, so you un-hitch?

We will be taking a few days to get to our end point. Now, for a one night stop do you leave your TT connected to the truck and just hook up water/sewer/electric? Any problem with that??

Yes I do that with no issues, as long as you have enough space for trailer and truck in campground space without encroaching on the campground road......

I've done that a couple times myself already. I do usually put the tongue jack and stabilizers down just to stabilize it and take weight off of the TV, but I leave the hitch completely connected to make life easier.

No problem as long as the site is level enough to put out the slideout and for running the refrigerator. I agree with klarowe - I'd touch down the tongue jack (for stability and to unload the truck slightly for the night) and use the TT's stabilizers.

If you have a hybrid and SUV combo, you might not be able to get the front bunk down but with a regular TT you'd have no problem setting up that way.

Usually ask for a pull thru that is big enough for the truck without unhooking, unhook the umbilical cord, run the landing jacks down, hook up water, electric, sewer and hit the sack, or if it's late and we're going to get an early start, hook nothing up.

Normally no problem. The front bunk of the Roo clears the tailgate on the truck, so we set up as normal on a pull-through and just put the tongue jack down enough to take a little weight of the tv. Saves a ton of time on one night stops.

Only time we had a problem was a stop in Flint, Mi where the site was so unlevel front to back that we had to unhook. Had to put the tongue just about on the ground to keep from rolling out of the bed...

I stay hooked up bit I do unplug. Don"t want any charge issues while camper plugged in. My 12Volt charge wire in 7 pin is hot for keeping battery charged

Only if i am in a place like Seigman AZ where they said i must. They have about 60 sites and three were taken. Google KOA in Seligman or Google earth Seligman and look for the campground. What a hoot.

Ditto but I always disconnect the power cable from the truck.

Thanks to all, that is what I was thinking......With the Roo and there is only two of us, we will either sleep on the air mattress couch or drop the back bed.....Thanks for the reminder about disconnecting the pig tail before plugging the land line power in....

One of the nice things about leaving the stabilizer connected is the stability of the front of the TT. Dependent on the kit, it may provide better support than the front stabilizers on the TT! I do agree, unplug your 7 pin from your vehicle. One dead battery, manageable. TT and vehicle, not ideal...

We did a 30 day 16000 km trip last June. Several of our stops were simply Walmart parking lots. We didn't unhitch on those days and never had a problem. I would unplug though.

For our 2-week trip around Michigan's Upper Peninsula, we had a couple of stops where we were only staying 1 night. For those, it was minimum setup:
-Pull the 7-pin connector from truck, and plug in for 120V (so you don't run on batteries).
-Use jack to take some weight off of vehicle and stabilize trailer. I put the stabilizers down, but did not use the X-chocks.
-No sewer connections. No water connections. Just get a little water on the way in and use the water pump on 120V.
-No ground cover. Awning only if needed.
-If yours is a hybrid, only deploy as necessary. We had the quad bunkhouse set up with 1 bunk collapsed where the girls bikes rode, but 3 bunks available for them to sleep. The wife and I used the dinette and sofa to sleep, so we didn't have to open the hybrid tipout.

After breakfast, you could be gone in 20 minutes...depending on when your coffee kicks in.

Same as everyone before me - I do stay hitched up. I'll only connect electric. I don't need to dump tanks after just one night (typically) and usually carry fresh water. I will put stabilizers/landing gear (fifth wheel) down just to take some movement out when we walk around.

If we are going without electric hookups (e.g. parking lot), I'll disconnect the umbilical cord to the truck. I leave a note on my steering wheel. I bought a big battery for the camper and the truck has dual batteries, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
