Stiffer springs?

I'm pulling a Rockwood 8313SS with a 2003 z71 and I'm looking for a solution to the "floating bounce" after hitting any dips or bumps in the road. I've looked at air bags online but don't know if that will fix my issue.

I think youroo is referring to your WDH spring bars. With a dry tongue weight of 790 lbs., you would probably need 1000 or 1200 spring bars, depending on what increment your brand of WDH uses.

If your WDH is setup properly, you should not need air bags on your truck.....but you have not listed what Chevy you are using.....just that is has a Z71 package. More details would be good.

I'm driving a 1500 z71. I'm pretty sure the spring bars on my WDH are already minimum 1000#.

For a 2003, if the shocks have never been replaced, that might be your easiest cure for the bounce.

Also, do the fender measurements (per the instruction manual) or do some weigh-ins on a CAT scale or the local quarry, to make sure your WDH is setup properly.

Is it possible you have your hitch over adjusted? I experienced a similar ride with my TT and that was the problem. Many are under the impression your supposed to level your truck with a WD hitch. The instructions that came with my hitch say to split the difference between unloaded and loaded rear bumper height. In fact, the illustration in the instructions of a "properly" adjusted hitch show the rear slightly lower than the front...Just an idea and my $.02

I added an extra leaf to the pack in my truck. It makes the unloaded ride a little rough but when hooked up it really seems to help. I have an 08 Chevy.

Exactly. That is why I stressed the OPer do the fender measurements or weigh-ins. Even an under-adjusted hitch might cause the problem.

As M109Rrider states, a level tow vehicle does not necessarily mean the spring bars are adjusted properly.
