My missus was very luck not to get hurt with her deer encounter:

She is still driving the same car, albeit repaired.

MtnGuy, you and your missus are extremely lucky. The Man upstairs was surely looking after her.

The statement that confuses me the most...

"I" hit a deer......

Uh....no "I" didn't..

The deer hit me...

All depends, by a basic physics definition it would depend on who occupied that point in space first. Since vehicles are typically going faster than a deer, the deer would have occupied that point in space first, therefore the car hit it.

Mntguy your wife was very lucky. Several years ago in Newago county in Mi a deer went through the windshield and ended up in the back seat. Killed three lady's. I know the EMT that answered the call. He said it was one of his worse encounters. The deer jumped from a high spot on the roadside and never touched anything but windshield as it went through.

This deer also came from a high bank. Fortunately, the force of the impact mostly hit the roof of the car instead of the windshield. When a door was closed, you could see the windshield "breathe" out.....there wasn't much structural integrity left. The only damage was to the roof, windshield, and 1 windshield wiper......we think 1 of the hoofs damaged the windshield wiper.

I think we all need a release from the seriousness of the deer accidents. I propose viewing this as a reminder that deer are our friends:

Glad you're family is OK.
If people like us didn't hunt 'em there'd be *many* more deer/passenger vehicle collisions. We're doing our part regarding "animal control".

Oh, I'm not complaining. Personally I don't because hunt I know I'd shoot my own foot at least twice, plus I have a few too many other expensive hobbies.

I like venison though and I appreciate that the meat on the table had a happier life than something that was cooped up until it was trucked to the slaughter house.

I have no idea. This was a picture of a condo listed for sale and couldn't believe people would do that to their kids. I hunt and have taken my share if deer but not a big trophy guy and I think it would give a baby bad dreams.
