Suggestions to get weight off the rear axle

7 people in a truck designed with 5 or 6 seatbelts to me is a major issue.

Agree with choochooman. It seems a lot of people are giving the OP suggestions on how to get his really overloaded 1/2 ton to work out for him.

I assume that because the OP is a farmer he assumes seat belts aren't important. I'm also from Saskatchewan and although it's flatter here than p*** on a plate, that truck doesn't seem like the right one.

Wrong truck for the job, period.

Since I use the same hitch, let me offer a few suggestions:
1 - the aluminum serrated plate the sets hitch angle is crooked. Make sure both sides are completely seated inside the serrations on the hitch head. If either plat serration of the hitch head serrations are damaged DO NOT USE THE HITCH. It may just be the picture, but it sure looks crooked.

2 - how did you determine ball height? It looks kind of high. I would try to flip the shank, set it about 2 inches lower than current height and start over with all your adjustments.

3- this ties into the ball height, but you are only running 4-5 links of chain, are your bars do not look very flexed. with chains that short, I expected the bars to be more bent. I think this is because you set the ball height too high. 5 links is the minimum you can run, but it is better to run more.


However NONE of this truly helps with a grossly overloaded rig. Your first post said you did not want to be told to get a bigger truck. Well, I am not saying that, but putting some people in a second car would be a lot safer.
